You invested in a new project ......

Install at least (2) IStar T-7-SA hard drive mobile racks in your case

Assume your old drive is contaminated

Put your old HD in one of the mobile racks.

Put a new hard drive in the other one and install Windows on it.

Update the new drive install and install Avast Suite on it

Install VMWare 16 on it. Get a key for it on eBay for $7

ALL software you didn't buy - run them on the VM

Run Brave browser for the web

Copy all your valuable data to your new drive and reinstall all your programs
This becomes your new main system.

Then wipe the old drive and reinstall Windows and do the same thing to it

You now have 2 copies of all your data on new windows installs

One is your daily system

One is for your new project

You should also make ANOTHER mirror copy HD and store it off site or in a safe deposit
box if possible.

Get a 256GB flash drive and use it to backup your daily changes to your main drive (updated files,
downloaded documents, etc, etc) It is an emergency backup used to update your off site copy

You should be re-installing Windows every 6 months just to make sure its clean.
