Keep the mentality that all links pointing towards your site should have good, relevant hand-crafted content. Don't go crazy in spamming them to death, make them look natural as well.
The unfortunate truth, is it takes time to build up a strong web2.0 property, but if you treat each one like you would your money site's little brother (or something like that) then you will see decent results.

I wouldn't. Imagine someone auditing your links and seeing a bunch of spam crap pointing to your website.

Yes unique content is always preferable if you’re pointing it to a money site.

Try playing around with expired web2.0s - sometimes you can find real gems and get ahead of the pack a little (given that you have good content).

i only do original good content for my PBN's direct post to my money site. all other content (other pages on my pbns) and web 2.0, using spinned content

If you put unique content on the web2.0, and then build good backlinks, it can even function as a parasite-cum PBN for you - it serves 2 purposes. It can help you dominate more of the SERP results, along with boosting link juice to your money site in the process, but make sure that it uses different set of links that those that have been applied to your money site.
