Is it worth making an LLC?

Is it worth it to make an LLC for a new business venture or should you get proof of concept and clients first? New to the entrepreneur thing just trying to figure a few basic things out.

It depends on what you need

There are reasons for and against opening an llc.

One of the benefits of an llc is that it shields the owners from personal liability (mostly). But do you really need that in the beginning? Maybe not if it is just you and you're not in a high risk occupation.

Another reason for opening an llc would be if there are multiple partners involved and you want to specify, legally, what each will contribute and receive. Again, maybe not necessary if it is just you involved.

You really have to evaluate your own situation, and maybe, talk to an attorney. Do a search on google for pros and cons of opening an llc to see more (scroll down to the people also ask section of the search results page for the best answers).

I've registered many LLCs. It is very cheap, about $100, it's as easy as buying something on Amazon(don't fall for the Mark Cuban endorsed recurring bill fraud registration service, which charges you $500 a year to do what the SCC services include anyway, and, they take a week to do it if you pay for their "expedited" service, where self registering you'll get your first documents in minutes not days or weeks, I haven't even seen black hat recurring billing scams as bad as that trash), and then like $25 to register a tax ID for it(then, you can open a bank account for it, and get debit cards.)

I say yes, it's worth it for a business where you need clients. People will take you more seriously. Make business cards and business deck PDF, regardless if you've had any clients you just want to look professional.

Taxes and everything will be the same, though will be easier to separate your biz expenses if you use a biz account, and you could take out credit eventually and get a biz credit card, once you have a track record, and it won't affect your personal credit directly.

Personally, I never use my LLCs anymore, but that's because I just do affiliate marketing now. Dang bank of america charges me $30 a month per biz account, really need to cancel those accounts.

I personally operate all my smaller business ventures and the odd jobs under a single company that is created for that exact purpose.

When a business venture of mine reaches the height that I want to separate it from that company, I move it under its own company.
Makes the selling process of a business venture far easier as it's just a regular company sale at that point.

Then operate those companies under a single holding company for better tax planning.
