Is it worth living anymore?

Here are some things I can recommend for your situation:

1. Lift heavy things 4x/week good for mood and making you feel good overall.
2. Eat healthily. Not a lot of processed junk or carbs. Quit alcohol if you drink. Quit weed if you smoke. Drink only water.
3. Meditate in the morning. Don't go on your phone. Wake up, meditate. Take a cold shower, Don't Fap or watch porn get into a nice rhythm. Workout, then start your day.
4. Supplements. I can extremely recommend Magnesium for anxiety. If you don't eat a lot of foods with magnesium, chances are you're low. It causes depression and anxiety. Vitamin D supplements if you're in a non-sunny location.

A lot of mental issues are caused because of our society norm. Sedative lives, junk food, and poisoning our bodies with alcohol, social media.

This should be enough to help you feel better, if not completely 100%.

Let me to say something to You OP. I have 37 years and 2 year ago my doctor give me 4 years max before i would die. Some rare pulmonar desease. I was shocked because in my mind i will live forevor.

But never and never i don't think to suicide. Contrary i think to live my life. This year i will get maried and i have plan to live as much i can. This pandemic delayed a bit my plan but i don't give up. So you need to don't give up and try your best to live your life!

Money can't make your pain go away, but it sure can make it more bearable and less miserable.

Imagine having no freedom. Your parents are anxious, they fear that something bad may happen to you if you go "out there", so "better stay home, play with your dog".
Imagine having a job you don't like - that's because you're not cut out for this job. And your work buddies and superiors treating you like a slave.

In this situation, I do think that having money makes it easier. Because it would allow me to quit my job and it would give me the freedom I need to pursue my passion and live my life like a normal human being.

So where are you from
Europe.

Can you explain more this part, you learned to make games, but take so much time? Beginners working slow, but from time to time, you will work faster. Do you apply on some game making job or do you make some game for the market ?

Game development is hard and challenging, you start with an idea, then you continue to elaborate it because game design is important, then you have the art, animation, coding, music... if you make a game for mobile it's even harder because you need to optimize the game to work well on most phones. It takes a lot of time.
I made only a few games but they are still unreleased. I'm working on a pc game, but I still have a lot of work to do, so that's just going to take a little more time.
Also, I'm not an experienced programmer, all I know I taught myself, therefore sometimes I get stuck and it takes time to find the solution.

@NeoPat I agree with your post, thanks.

@Lunami thank you, and please get rid of that poisonous substance. A beautiful soul like yours deserves the best. :)

If you don't like your parents or your society then work hard to earn a living for you by yourself and live alone. But again never-ever think about suicide.

I understand them, I know they were part of a different era and they have their thinking and values.
And that's exactly what I want to do: to earn a living for me and live alone. But it's hard to do that when you have a soul-crushing job that takes away all of your energy.

If you dont like your job - change it. if you arnt happy with where u are - change it. If you dont like where u live - change that too. You can change everything.

This is what I want to do, but I don't know how. I want to quit my job and to earn money by doing something I enjoy.

You're a slave because you allowed yourself to be a slave. You're already 20+ but still scared of your parents. Why don't you quit your job and leave your home? Go to a faraway place and rent an apartment and start a new life away from your controlling parents. You need to escape your toxic environment.

I would love to quit my job and leave home, but what could I do next? To go to a faraway place and rent an apartment - that supposed I would need to have constant money. That's my problem, I don't know how to make money.

You need to focus on letting go of expectations on yourself, I've met homeless people who are the happiest people in the world.

That's because they have no responsibilities, they have no bosses that treat them like shit, they have no mortgages, no stress et cetera.

Exercise 5 or 6 times each week for about 1 hour each day. If you can do weight training with machines/free-weights this will make you feel the best. If you can't access a proper gym, do anything - this could be abs one day, push ups the next day, bicep curls with something heavy the 3rd day, then repeat for the 2nd half of the week.

It's not about building up, it's about endorphins - you will feel so much better from doing this.

I used to go to the gym very often. I think I got a little lazy lately...

My personal recommendation is: Break free of everything which holds you back, puts too much pressure on you and makes you feel depressed.

That's exactly what I want to do but I don't know how. I want to break free, to do something I like, but how? I would like to be my own boss, to make my own money and live for myself. But I don't know how can I do that.

I know it can sound funny - but try to do some martial art - it helped me a lot, iv been there mate, please stay positive and try to find some good things in your life, and be patience - everything will come to you at the right time.

Not funny at all, I totally agree because you are right! I've been doing for a little while boxing and krav maga and it is true that it makes you feel better and have a better respect for yourself.

Get this book. "Purpose driven life" by Rick Warren.

Thank you. I'm a nerd and I read it already. I'm not a religious person though.

@CloakerLy I already read it, thank you.

A lot of mental issues are caused because of our society norm. Sedative lives, junk food, and poisoning our bodies with alcohol, social media.

Thank you. I live in a rural area, and because of this, I have a healthy diet - never junk food. I also don't drink alcohol.

Anyway, thanks for all the answers, everyone. It's overwhelming because I didn't expect to have such feedback!
As the old greeks said, Ars longa, vita brevis.

Everything is about perception. Life isn't good or bad, black or white. It doesn't matter if you're rich or poor.
You lack confidence, see yourself as a slave, victim, failure, etc. You see the worst in everything.
Unless you stop harming yourself with these mental images (that have nothing to do with reality), you won't find a way out of your situation.

Change your mindset, and everything will get better immediately.

for mobile games, it is nice if you have a unique idea, but you can take some template and just improve and add your graphic and made own remake, and make fast production. I made the same, take good gameplay and just release with new characters and others. And when you will make a freelance, you can do it the same. PC games are harder for indie, mobile games, games for FB are fine for a one-man show.

Yes your life is worth living. The root problem is judging your value by your achievements or lack of achievements. Who determines whether you're a failure or not? who decides your value? Your value is not determined by the things you've achieved, or not achieved, because your more valuable than THINGS, OR ACCOMPLISHMENTS. You're experiencing the negative reaction of valuing yourself by what you do, because as soon as you haven't reached or felt you've arrived at your desired destination, you feel like, you're not valuable, this is not true. I personally don't believe anyone's value is based upon their success or not (whatever one defines as success which is a whole different discussion). But you valuable, you have a purpose and people need you, your experience, talents in this life, hence why you should not give in to these negative thoughts, resist them. Private message me, and I'll explain more, why your value is NOT BASED UPON what you do or don't do.
I hope and pray that not just my post, but anyone's post that GIVES YOUR STRENGTH, to carry on, you will get it.

I used to go to the gym very often. I think I got a little lazy lately...
Half the time it's just the feeling of taking positive action that helps, I did a lot of factory work when I was younger, soul crushing work - 12 hour shifts of putting cups in boxes, but like the song goes "after the rain comes sun, and after the sun comes rain again". Never make the mistake of forgetting how much better your life can be if you just make a few good decisions.

The shit you're going through is building your character and making you tougher internally than the people that don't have to go through it.

You seem intelligent and like you can write well, maybe look into making some money from copywriting? You could look at methods here as well in social media or SEO and see if you can master one of those. Got to be able to make more doing writing than you're making now, and it can allow you to propel into something bigger. Also big plus is no boss!

Keep going man, don't give up.

In this situation, I do think that having money makes it easier. Because it would allow me to quit my job and it would give me the freedom I need to pursue my passion and live my life like a normal human being.

Here is a big misconception that might lead you to feel the way you feel.

Normal people don't love their jobs, they don't have the financial freedom to peruse their dreams, or much freedom at all.

That's something you have to work very hard to earn, and seeing you in your eraly 20's, meaning you have a lot more to go trough and experience.

Take the fact you want to break out of being normal as your leverage, don't look at it as if everyone is already there, and that is normal.

Hi OP,

I know exactly what you're going through. I am now twice as much older than you are but I remember when I was your age and living in a conservative family with a bullying, narcistic mother. I remember being told what to do, what to wear, who to marry. I thought of suicide quite often and once even tried but fortunately failed. I read many books about suicide and the best sentence I read was that it's not that people who want to commit suicide don't want to live. They don't want to live the life they have and they can't see it can be changed. But it can be changed. It took me long to leave my parents. I was 27 and still single while most of my friends were married, had families and good jobs. But I finally made it, and I now live 1600 km from my Mum and have a life of my own to shape in whatever way I want to.

So, the sooner you take your life in your hands, the better for you. I'm sure you'll succeed. Your post here on this forum was your first big step to change your life.

In my observation, many parents have trouble realizing that their kids have grown up and they want set their own goals and priorities in life. While it's important to keep things civil, you also need to assert your boundaries.

Can't you go to college maybe? As far as I know, in most countries higher education is free in Europe. I'm lucky enough to have very understanding parents in the first place, but our relationship improved a lot after I moved out.

You come across as a very smart and talented person, I'm sure you will make your parents proud one day :).

@SocialEyez: You have a point there and I agree with you.
@Sandie2018: Thank you for the kind words!
@stoat: Indeed, many parents treat their adult children like small kids even when they have grown up as adults.
Anyway, I already went to college and I also have a master's degree in business administration. I just got one thing to do, and that is to become my own boss. Right now I find it rather difficult. Thank you for the kind words, I try to become a better person every day, even though it is becoming more and more difficult to motivate myself.

It's worth it. I know you may be feeling stuck and helpless right now, we all do at some point in our lives. But looking back now I can see many things have changed, although at the time it looked like there was no way out.
You may feel a lot of pressure, but you must try and let go of other people's expectations of you and help yourself first. Think of what YOU want to do and what you'd want to live for.
You'll make it OP, so don't give up. And it's okay if it'll take time. Wish you best of luck :)

Seriously, why don't you try copywriting? Your English is good and your problems look like they can be solved with money.

+ Everything others have suggested you - exercising and healthy diet.

Hey man I honestly can't fathom what you are going through at this moment. Sorry for your situation. At the end of the day, you have to live your life in order to make yourself happy. Change is the key here I believe and involves cutting the mass negativity out of your life (ie: parents). Its sounds harsh but it seems like in your situation you are feeling suffocated from the issues around you. Sometimes is helps to take a step back. As user zionabar stated, changing your location, jobs, etc can really help in this aspect.

It is also important I think, when your having your rock bottom points, to always remember your brother and those that are important to you. Suicide is a selfish act in the end. I have an older brother that is my idol. It would break my heart if I ever found out he was going through something similar, or if he did eventually take the step of committing. It would affect me the rest of my life.

At the end of the day, life is worth living, it just becomes a matter of perspective though and how you see the world and your decided purpose of existence. If you gave everything up and had no societal, familial or other obligations could you be happy then?

Hello friends.

Lately, I've been having suicidal thoughts.

You guys ever been through this before?

I feel like a complete failure. I'm in my 20's and my life basically consists of waking up at 5, go to work, come home tired like a zombie in the evening. My job sucks, I have no skill for it and I hate it. I'm doing it only because my parents forced me to do it. I live in a very conservative rural area, and here parents decide for their kids what to do, what to wear, what to say, what to think. "They want to be proud of you."

Most of my friends took off.
I wish I could too.
But I'm stuck here.

Now, because of the coronavirus, I stay at home for some days... but they always call me, from work, and yell at me and treats me like a slave. Like always.
Sometimes I wonder if there are others in my position or I'm the only one. Every minute I feel like I'm going to break.

I'm not one to lay down and cry about it. But there comes a moment, doesn't there?
And I kept thinking about it.
I don't think I can make it man. I've read literally thousands of books, I've watched a lot of online courses, youtube tutorials... I have even learnt to code... Because, I mean, that's what I thought will be my salvation. I can make games, but man, it takes so much time...Normally I'd be patient, but in my situation, I can't anymore.

I've had enough of this crap.

And on top of that, my younger brother has an illness and he'll have to do surgeries. But where are you getting 10.000 dollars for it?
My parents are poor and I only make 450 dollars a month, and all of them go towards expenses like food, mortgage, utilities and all that.

I feel frustrated because I can't make that amount of money.
I feel lost because I have no direction, I don't know where to start.

Now, every day I wake up thinking I don't deserve to live... What's the point to wake every day, do something you hate, having people treating you like a slave, come home and repeat it everydamnday...

Is it worth living anymore?
Same in india
Third world is a shithole.
This is why western civilization is best, they have the best laws there to stop the big men exploiting the less fortunates.
No such thing exists in india. And it really sucks there is no value of life in such countries. This is why I beleive west is best..!

Sounds like you’re depressed bro...

I can’t think of any solution that is legal, 10k is good bunch of money and making it rapidly is not that easy.

My long term suggestion is to get out of there ASAP, save some money, i know you said that it all goes to expenses but try to save some of it. When you have saved for a bunch of time, decide when you are going to leave, confront you parents, tell them that you’re not going to pay the next bills cause you’re going on your own.

And leave. Just leave bro.

I really hope that you find a way for your brother, maybe start a crowdfunding?

Man, your key is in your brain, for a moment take apart emotions and uses your brain, you are not a slave if you decide not to be, it all depends on you ..no others.
The web have tons of opportunities to become financially independent; learn and practice, no need for a degree to makes money online, just your brain.. so do us a favor, take control of your life now!

You summed it up great.

The times we are in right now are especially NOT easy, Covid-19 put a dent in everyone's plans.
