Is it safe to take multivitamin tablets?

It's an assumption based on experience, I eat pure junk all day everyday, like literally pure junk. Sometimes I have chocolate and crisps as a meal. I rarely ever eat anything healthy. I don't eat fruits, I don't eat much veg I'd say fried chips are the only veg I eat, and I drink pepsi max all day long.

And if my unhealthy as fk diet doesn't cause me to be deficient in anything, then god knows what you actually have to eat as a diet to be deficient. And before you say it, yes I went for blood tests to check my deficiency multiple times at the doctors, no deficiencies found on multiple occasions. And the funny thing is, I rarely go outside even without the pandemic.

Now you said I'm spreading misinformation based on not quoting any studies, well now you need to quote something to prove me wrong otherwise you are spreading misinformation by saying I am spreading misinformation without proof.
Maybe you're so used to your low quality diet that you fail to notice its adverse effects. Try a multivitamin for 1 week and watch your life change.

When we don’t eat enough fruits and vegetables, we miss essential nutrients, which can lower our risk for heart disease, stroke, cancer, and other health conditions. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), adults should consume 1.5-2 cups of fruit and 2-3 cups of vegetables daily. Yet, in a recent CDC study, they found that 76% of adults don’t eat enough fruit and 87% of adults don’t eat enough veggies.

I just proved you wrong. Now prove me wrong.

There is no issue into supplementing your body with some more vitamins if you don't take enough of them every day.

I order them for my whole family, and I think they're very useful if you're not eating enough fruits and vegetables daily.

Get 'daily multivitamin' from MyProtein for a cheap and good choice. Most brands are way overpriced. (For any supplement)

yes defintely take them.

i also suggest taking 1000 g of vitamin D every other day while you take multi vitamin on a daily basis.

i take my multi vitamin around noon time, it gives me a boost for the afternoon

1KG of vitamin D every day? LOLOLOL - I know it's prob a typo but where the fuck does OP stick that bill? (even a 1000mg is way off)

I used to take a multivitamin every day - I didn't really get on with them, I've tried various strengths and brands and it's always caused me a bit of an upset stomach

I only take the following as additional:

Vit C 1000mg

Calcium 400mg (I don't get enough of this due to me keeping away from diary products anything over 800mg gives me stomach issues again)

I'm outside enough anyway, I don't tend to eat processed crap so I just take the extra boosts in what I think I need.

There are side effects if you take too much of specific vitamins from clotting to shitting. So if you are going to take a Multi vitamin work your way up don't just go for a 1500mg tablet from day one, that would be my advice.

First of all, this entire thread is about vitamins and minerals, and your quote literally doesn't mention them. Nice attempt though, you might convince a child with that.

Second of all, I don't eat fruit, I haven't in probably a few years now, and my blood tests came back normal, no deficiencies. What's that about? Am I a superhuman then?

I'm not saying eating fruit isn't healthy, on the contrary I stated that quite clearly above that I'm unhealthy as fk. But vitamin or mineral deficient? No. So you'd literally have to go full retard on your own diet to pass me and become deficient.

Still waiting for your facts on the percentage of the population that's vitamin and mineral deficient excluding vitamin D since it's primarily produced through vitamin D synthesis.

And "Maybe you're so used to your low quality diet that you fail to notice its adverse effects."

Nope... I feel pretty damn amazing everyday to be fair. Full of energy. Don't have any health issues. I'm perfectly fine.

Can you remember when the governments with all their science power claimed fats were unhealthy and to eat carbs, and then caused an obesity crisis nation wide because they were wrong. So that was scientists telling you through the government to eat unhealthy. Or have you read about how milk came to be the new health drink with it being promoted just to boost sales? Yep I haven't drunk milk since I was around 5, I don't like it. Guess what? Never fractured a bone in my body, my teeth are fine too? What they forgot to tell you was, you can get calcium from plenty of other sources if you read labels.

The health sector is a money making cash cow, don't ever forget it, and don't believe everything you read. Because it could be wrong. Very wrong. As shown throughout history.

No. Not unless you have deficiencies. You can overdose on vitamins and minerals, and since 99% of diets provide standard amounts, taking tablets will just be overdosing every single day. Any overdose is damaging on the liver, because it can only handle so much of a chemical at one time.

Never take too much of anything even water as even water overdoses can kill you.
What you're quoting is a very rare clinical picture. Hypervitaminosis is a condition but it's largely theoretical. If i person just takes the recommended quantity of vitamins/day (the tablets/capsules are made in accordance to recommended daily allowances ) then there shouldn't be any problem.

Sure it's another thing if someone pops 5-10 tablets at a time that's 5-10 times the recommended daily allowance, but then again- why would one do that?

Water overdose can kill you sure, but i doubt you or rather anyone would be able to drink that much amount of water ever without any pharmacological manipulation.

Going by that argument, too much of the sun can kill you too.

Diet varies from person to person, what you are consuming might not be a part of the staple diet of someone living in another part of the world, multivitamins help to balance out these inequalities in nutrition.

What do fruits and vegetables contain? Vitamins and minerals. So if more than 70% of the population don't consume enough of those, that basically means more than 70% of the population aren't getting the essential vitamins and minerals their bodies need from their diets.

If your diet works for you, then by all means continue with it. But you're the exception.

IF you take a start popping a multivitamin and you get a large source of something from another craving or food you eat on a daily basis you will be over doing something and you will see some kind of side effect (normally shitting)

Generally speaking, it is not a bad idea to take multivitamins, etc. especially if you are on a diet or other circumstances.

What matters is the dose (like for everything else: alcohol, drugs, pain killers, cigarettes, etc. - everything can have a bad impact if you take too much of it) and also the product you are taking

That implies that only fruits and vegetables contain vitamin and minerals. Are you implying that or are you slightly confused? Even chocolate and crisps contain vitamins and minerals. Like I don't know how you would eat a diet and be deficient in them. Literally.

In the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States, overdose exposure to all formulations of "vitamins" (which includes multi-vitamin/mineral products) was reported by 62,562 individuals in 2004 with nearly 80% of these exposures in children under the age of 6, leading to 53 "major" life-threatening outcomes and 3 deaths (2 from vitamins D and E; 1 from polyvitaminic type formula, with iron and no fluoride).

Well, obviously the human body is smart enough to counter such stuff, This is one of the most basic biological processes/failsafes. It is so basic that it is observed in lower organisms too. I can write a whole page on this but simply put - not all of what you eat is stored in the body, if there is too much of a particular micronutrient (lets say a vitamin) in the body then
1. its absorption decreases
2. its excretion increases

This is a failsafe mechanism that exists for most of the microutrients and minerals (Except iron). Additionally, it's often seen that people are on the lower side of the recommended levels (and even deficient).

Even if you happen to overdose on a vitamin, the efforts of doctors are not to actively remove that vitamin but just to support the body in reaching equilibrium, the body balances the levels by itself.

Yes, too much sun can kill you, I wasn't making a counter argument on that. What i wanted to say was - where should one stop? If you keep going down the original argument then too much of sun, water, air, everything can kill you.
