So, I’ve been on a mission for some time now to create what i initially thought would be a simple image sharing/hosting website.

For context - I am not a coder. I am more of an.. idea guy, so to speak, an illustrator and a decent writer. I own one monetized website currently, which is an affiliate blog related to growing pot. It took me way longer than I had expected to get it up and running, and the revenue has been way less than i’d initially worked/hoped for.. that being said, I still consider it to be a HUGE success, and i can feel a healthy addiction brewing. I’m still working hard at getting it where i know it can be, and aside from that I am now on a concurrent mission to create small success #2 in my arsenal of shortcomings (bad joke, i hope).

I’ve gone thru every major website builder out there thinking i could get away with utilizing one of them for what Id like to accomplish. I’ve also been working with WP for over a year now trying to master how to use it and although i’ve finally been getting some traction, i cant get this site together. I am spending needless money and time on themes and schemes that dont pan out.

however, i HAVE learned what tool i need to use to build my website, and i HAVE learned that i need to put the time into learning some actual coding skills to pull this off.

the tool it seems i should use is an image-hosting script - which one? hoping someone here might be able to tell me.

also i want to understand - can i implement one of these scripts into an easy to use website builder in the ‘additional/custom code’ boxes? or is this something i would need to build a website from scratch code in order to utilize? implement into wordpress?

I feel so close, but so far from connecting the dots and understanding how to build my website. In coming here, I want to be careful not to seem as if im undermining the value of coding/programming skills. Not only do i see the value, and respect the trade, but i am eager to actually learn it all. So on top of my questions on utilizing image-hosting scripts, maybe people have some advice on where to start in learning how to code websites with specific functions such as the image sharing one im working on now.

a few bullet points to give additional specificity to what im trying to accomplish:

- homepage of 2 page website has image viewer in center of page that displays random images from the website’s gallery, and does not repeat images until all images have been shown.

- ability for front-end image submission, as well as back end image uploads.

- users on front end must register with email to upload/submit, w/ gmail included as asimple option for registering.

- aside from the default random image display setting, users should be able to search the gallery by tags and only be shown random images with that tag.

- admin should be able to edit tags for both back-end and front-end image uploads, as well as be able to approve or deny user submission before they are published to the site

- only one image should be shown at a time, without blacking out the rest of the webpage content (nav menu, ad spaces, etc)

I know this post turned obscenely lengthy, so whomever’s attention ive got, i thank you so much.

Guys, where do i start?

You could use Wordpress and some plugins/theme to easily achieve this

Thanks for the reply man, i gotta say i LOVE and HATE to hear that simultaneously. What’s the missing link? Am i just using the wrong themes? I’ve even contacted several freelance wordpress builders thru Fiverr ready to pay someone to get it done for me just as a learning experience as well as obviously the fact of getting it built - yet they are each telling me this is impossible with wordpress! Are they just frauds, maybe just lazy freelancers perhaps? I truly dont know what to make of things where im at with it.

So you are saying a separate image hosting script outside of wordpress plugins wouldnt even be necessary?
