I have noticed when I will open my laptop to do one thing but within a few minutes I am checking another website, replying to message or watching a random video. I have completely forgotten what I was supposed to be doing. It feels like there are so many distractions online these days that makes staying focused much harder.
Am I the only one or you are also gets distracted during work ?

Attention span getting reduced, because the system is built to get attention as quick as possible
Most social media platforms are geared to increase dwell time as much as possible

Very popular problem. Nowadays everyone has some form of ADHD. The society has evolved and leaves us no choice. Technology dictates.
Personally, I found a good doctor and he gave me prescription for ADHD.

But being focused does not mean that you are getting smarter. These are different qualities. You can be more efficient, but still not very productive in the end.

Yeah.

The hentai tabs distract me the most.

I need to change my homepage to Google or something.

yes, it's hard, but distractions are here for over a decade

i remember in 2011 when I was distracted by ads popping up saying that ''samantha, 48yo, divorced, single mom is nearby, 1km away, she wants to fuck young lads''

Nah you're def not alone, this happens to basically everyone now. What helped me was just killing the easy access... browser blocker during work hours and phone in another room. Sounds simple but the friction actually matters, half the time im not even deciding to open a new tab, my hands just do it on autopilot.

@Vynith changing the homepage wont do much if the muscle memory is still there lol. The url bar is the real problem.

One thing nobody mentioned is batching the comms stuff. Replying to messages the second they come in is what breaks the flow worst imo. Set like two or three windows in the day for that and leave it closed otherwise.
