Is IM getting harder nowadays?

I just had this random thought about how I was doing IM back in 2013-2017. Since then lots of things happened:

- Google changed their algorithm heavily. It constantly updates itself now. They are releasing countless updates (just within the last four months they had at least three major updates according to my experiences) without actually telling what they changed or whats going on. Sometimes they don't even officially say the made updates. This makes it very hard for people to rely on SEO.

- Automation got much harder. Instagram and Jarvee is a good example. Also for Facebook and Twitter it got much harder.

- Facebook: You remember the time when we had Facebook pages with 100k real fans and you could actually earn a lot from it and drive lots of traffic your sites/videos? This time is long gone. They totally fucked up their algo. Nobody is talking about it anymore. Its not worth it to grow FB pages anymore. Few years ago you could earn some serious cash.

- Shopify/Dropshipping is not only saturated, but Paypal recently declared "war" on dropshipping. So many people are complaining about it on YouTube. Problem: From my experience 70% of the customers are using Paypal to pay. No Paypal = much less sales

- SMM Panels: Damn, it became so hard to find a working SMM panel. Last year and the years before everything worked perfectly fine. Now its the opposite.

- PayPal: It seems like Paypal is making it very very hard to make business with them. After they successfully got rid of SMM panels, they are now going after dropshippers. What next? So many people rely on Paypal and they are not giving any fuck to simply limit any account they want.

- YouTube: I remember back then in 2012. I made a YouTube channel, uploaded some original videos and monetized them directly. Just connected my Adsense account and thats it. I could earn money instantly. Now they regulate the shit out of YT by annoying requirements and a very strict policy. Also they are going after kids channels etc. now. Its crazy.

What is the point of this thread?

I am wondering: Did we already reach the tipping point? Are things going to be even worse in the future? Like more regulations, stricter policies, easier to get the account banned, unpredictable serps etc.?

What is your opinion on this?
Look, Paypal and Google and just SOME of the companies out there. No need to rely on them to succeed. There are plenty of ways to make money, man.

It's harder than it was 10 years ago, thats for sure.

I guess you should tell your story of how it went for you at start because I gladly remember how hard you were trying at the start but you never gave up!

Well, it was all trial and error man. Asking people around, then fixing and keep trying until it worked. Its all about never giving up, learning and fixing your mistakes.

Success never comes easy, man.

It gets harder, but also easy in other places because more people have come in increasing the market size.

IM is not really that difficult if you have enough capital budget and know what you are investing or buying
Hi there, how much capital and how would you know what to invest in or buy, please?

Of course its getting harder and that increase since 2002 .
More and more people are joining internet marketing to make a few bucks.
Recession is knocking on the door so expect a big flood of new IM'ers soon.

The good old days of the 90's where you just needed to create a website and submit it to search engines (where many search engines at that time) were golden times

Sh*t is getting heavy for sure, but that doesn't mean we've reached the tipping point. I don't think there IS a tipping point. People will always figure out how to improve, play by the rules or outgame the system. Those people will just be fewer in number. 'Mastery' will be an absolute necessity regardless of the niche you plan on going into.

this makes a lot of sense to me. I would invest $20k to make $1k per month.
Imagine people buy a real estate $100k and get $800-$1000 per month rental income.
This is because your house won't be wiped by one Google update

Basically you are right. But try running a store or offering a service without Paypal. Your conversation rate will be much lower. Same goes for Google and its search engine. The most people are using Google, unfortunately. This is the problem about monopolies. In China its even worse...I made the experience by myself: For some time they blocked me from Alipay and Wechat and I had absolutely NO chance to use any service etc. and this is a big problem in China, because EVERYONE is using this.

It is much harder than it used to be, we can not deny that.

But it will never be impossible to earn money from IM. There's a piece of the pie for everyone. Work hard.

I really can't say much on this cause what works for Mr.A might not work for Mr.B as well as many other things in IM, But best way is start small and try things yourself when ROI is good, even as small as possible from tests you ran see how you can scale whatever it is you are doing and how much you need to invest to grow it

The environment is becoming more and more severe, there is no doubt, not only reflected on Internet marketing, but in all society, every field.

The whole world economy now is in a very weird status, brim of big change.

People who have money will earn more money, while those poor will suffer more and only find its harder and harder to earn sufficient cash to keep alive.

Admit it, human society is never a playground, its a place where people eat people.

Big changes are:

Individual, small publishers, single programmer, tiny business owners will gradually fade out
Only big companies control the world, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Softbank, etc
Big media shift towards AR/VR/MR/HOLO/Voice/Robot Assistant, they will only controlled by big whales
Most jobs will vanish in 30 years, then Robots skynet

Finally, Cyberpunk will welcome you.

Of course it will be possible. The only problem I see here are single companies, which have so much power and do whatever they want. Just take a look on PayPal....Limit here...limit there...account frozen. Now they go after dropshippers. These guys are doing whatever they want (its their right, its their business), but there is no real competition to Paypal. Everyone I know is using Paypal. This company is just trusted as fuck....from a consumer perspective Paypal is perfect.

Yeah the biggest players like paypal, google, amazon, etc are all trying to increase profits (as in additon they are listed companies). So they are squeeing the lemon, while governments and hackers also play their part (in squeezing the lemon). With free information, millions of people with free time, medium sized players with big pockets, this can only get way harder.

Those are events that are important to be addressed. As we arrived in late-stage capitalism you see large corporations swallowing small enterprises or other (small) business go bankrupt. Thus giving total control to multinationals. Not only in the online online world, mostly in the offline one. They negatiotate or work together with governments as well. And because of globalization it is basically an unlimited playground. Don't get me wrong, I am in favor of capitalism, but you can only wonder where this will end up. Nothing good comes from this, obviously. Soon a bank will block your checking account just because you wrote something on social media they did not like. And they will have the control to do so. We already see this happening in China. The solution to this? You, me, we - the people. We decide with our wallets. But we are kept in line by entertainment and other mind numbing activities. Yet we should not forget that all the power belongs to us.

Now having said all of that, the world is changing and there is only one way; adapt. Think about this example: the strategy of Lyft? Just get a piece of the pie in the ride-sharing industry. And it worked out... There's always room for whatever you wish to do. Make sure you execute the right strategy and you're good. With enough willpower and motivation you can always succeed. I've launched a news website. There's millions out there of those websites. I just made sure to present myself in a way I'd be sure others would read it.

No competition? Depends on the targeted countries. I never use Paypal and sell online. Just use local payment methods like GiroPay/Bancontact/iDEAL/Cartes Bancaires etc (I'll focus only on tier 1 countries where these sort of payments are way bigger than PP).

I think those who rely purely on Paypal just miss some form of vision and experience in business or just want to go the easy way without having the hassle to set up these forms of payments/providers since you have to verify yourself and your business and having rules to follow (except for countries where are no local alternatives available).

I.m is so hard this days if not harder. Lol but no matter how hard it pays
