Last year I was self promoting my comedy account with other throwaway accounts on big pages. I gained 500 every 3ish hours. Since then I feel like self promo has gotten even worse, does eveeybody agree with that or are there still people growing through self promotion?

Also, other than sfs, explore page, and f4f, is there any other good techniques i should look into?

You can take a gander in the journey or instagram section to get the basic information you seem to lack

You can use the tools provided here to leverage influence in order to grow your account.

Self promotion is not dead you just have to know how to use hashtags and other marketing schemes
I dont want to be spoonfed but maybe you could explain howso?

Maybe using an IG bot can help you boost your followers accordingly? I believe IG may have done some changes to their site, and it looks like they may have also gotten lesser traffic recently as compared to 2 years back.

Lol everybodys ignorning my main question, im talking about self promoing with comments on big pages

I wouldn't say it's "completely" dead. But the numbers are surely changed for many reasons. The most reliable way to grow is by interacting with other users (as in following, liking, commenting etc). And having a very high quality profile is also very important, to get people to actually follow you, because the competition is very high nowadays.

I've noticed a related strategy being used for quite a while now. Big IG accounts like @ Luxury comment on photo's of humongous pages such as @ Cristiano in the hope it becomes a featured comment. Featured comment on such a profile = mad exposure. Example: https://imgur.com/a/FAYZ6

@ Luxury comments on every @ Cristiano post and gets featured every time.

What I've noticed in this example is that both featured comments are from accounts followed by Cristiano. So my guess is that if a big page follows your account you can gain exposure by commenting on their pics. To me, this strategy is much less spammy/ more authentic than the old-school self-promotion with throwaway accounts.

I've seen this too, looks like a good strategy if you can consistently be featured comment.

Other ways would be use IG bot to follow / like and buy shoutouts from influencers in your niche.

I agree. I'm currently running the IG bot that was recently shit-listed here on some fitness accounts. Averaging around +150 followers a day on each account. All accounts got a link to a site of mine in their bio, very easy way to generate some niche related traffic without too much effort.

Thanks for the tip, but to get featured i know that the user must follow you OR you have to be a big account is thay correct? Or are there other ways to get featured comment like maybe likes on a comment?
