I have been a Hostgator user for nearly 10 years now and their service in the first 8 years was always fantastic. Quick to respond on chat, polite customer service and no major issues.

In the last 2 years, I have noticed that their service levels have gone done considerably. Many of the emails sent using our company accounts are being marked as spam and same for incoming emails from our customers, who have been emailing us for a long time, without any problems before. They are not even interested in looking at the issue and simply blame the ISP's of senders, even though the same senders had no issues at all.

Their chat response time, which used to be 2-3 minutes waiting has gone up to 20+ minutes of waiting on most occasions.

They never do any automatic back-ups of my files, because of their "file limits".

I tried to submit a support ticket on their website and the form was buggy so the ticket never got submitted (and I am not a new to all this). I am seriously considering migrating now and my only concern is that because my websites have been hosted their for so long, what sort of SEO impact would my sites have if I migrate servers?

Also very keen on some recommendations for alternatives, but only those offered from large companies that have been in business for a few years and have a very solid reputation online.

Maybe you're just having bad luck, why would they be coming to an end with the money they are making?

Running smooth as butter for me.

Hey OP i'm in the same boat like you :) I was thinking the same thing from couple of months. Hostgator start sucking bad for me too for the past year. They always doing something or changing something and my website is down. Or when i ask them why the speed of my website is slow they blame the "time" or something lame.

I would recommend Hostwinds. I've been with them for a while and they are very fast with support, also good uptime.

Same experience here. My account will expire in 10 Dec and I am not going to renew it. The main problem is they have stopped to accept that the mistake is from their side. Every time blaming on ISP. I checked my site in many performance checking services , all of them indicated that my sites have terrible loading time. Even I experience the same. But everytime I contact their support, they have only one response it is loading excellent in their side. they are really terrible.

I'm having no trouble with them. I highly doubt someone as large as Hostgator will just "end".

I never had problem with Hostgator in the past but this year, I have to say, it was really really bad experience with them. Their customer service live chat from 3-5 minutes waiting time went up to 30mins+. Their Admin did not answer ticket as fast as before, took them over 6 hours to answer simple inquiry.

The thing that pissed me off the most was their data center going down TWICE this year extending up to 6 hours+ each time, our store lost about $6k each day.

For the emails, you can use a free smtp server dude, as you seem a low email sender. Anything else is expected as there are more clients with the same number of support staff.

    Change hosting then, dude...

At the moment I am preparing myself to move over to different provider..

oh yes... I'm not f*** baby croc :/

and the live chat thing that takes 25-30min??? ... brr.....

This is a hugely strange coincidence...

Earlier today I was setting up my Hostgator account and was browsing some forums about web hosting.
The coincidence is that one of the threads I read is EXACTLY the same as what you've posted, but it was originally posted at what the website calls 'Yesterday, 10:17 PM'

    http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1325175

This post was by somebody named on_way_to_fame who lists their location as the UK in much the same way that users on BHW list their location, and they joined that forum in 2005.

Now either you're the same person who for some reason decided to post the same thread on multiple forums, or you found that post and decided to re-post it here with the intent of, I don't know, garnering more thanks.

    Can you please explain?

I'll recommend them too, been with Hostwinds for a few years, never had any problems. I thought that the hostgator group was one of the largest webhosting companies in the world. I doubt they will be folding in the very near future.

sure to have noticed decreased in the quality of service. that doesn't mean it has come to an end!
really 'xyz coming to an end' kind of topics are saturated, there can be other ways of starting a a thread.

    no offence.
