So they have these plans on the home page that says $6.95 monthly renewal and they compare with godaddy and others who charge higher in that section

hostgator.com/web-hosting

but, in reality HOSTGATOR are charging me 11.95 every month and that charges is only shown during checkout

https://checkout.hostgator.com/signup/shared/3/36/FREEUPGRADE3

I have been using them since several years and was surprised by this kind of fake out (somewhat)

You should know that they wrote "Starting At". It means those kinds of prices come with conditions, like yearly payment or more.

If you signup or signed up on a longer billing cycle, you get a better deal.
If you're being billed monthly then no, you don't get it for that cost.

starting at is the low introductory price of 3.99
but below it clearly says" Monthly Renewal Cost" 6.95

If it's not clear, just contact them and ask to explain why all the additional charges.

Contacted and the guys says competitors (godaddy) also do the same. and then directed me to checkout page link that shows 11.95

I mean 11.95 should be there in some pages if not home page and not directly at a DIFFERENT checkout page

I don't understand the problem. Tons of companies do this.
If you take out the introductory offer at the lowest offered price then you're paying that low price for 3 years... After which, you get put on a higher cost plan.
But considering it is just an introductory offer, you're still getting it at that for three years. What's the complaint?

Every bank and/or credit card I know does an introductory rate and pushes that in customers faces. So do loads of other companies. It makes it quite clear on the homepage and on the checkout page that after the three year period you will be charged extra. Where is the issue?

I loved that Hostgator said that they offer "unlimited" bandwidth and space and when you order you have limits! xD Lying Ted, Lying Ted! xD

usually on hostgator they will advertise the lowest price which is if you pay 3 years in advance. But when you check out most all customers pick monthly payments and your price goes to the regular listed price. To get the price that is advertise you have to pay for like 3 years in advance.
