Is Google too powerful?

term monopoly means "exclusive control of a commodity or service in a given market."

I Hate Totalitarian Monopoly Capitalism

I have spent hours trying to clean my computers of traces from Google.
- I try to use Bing as much as I can, and privately I use the term "Bing It"
- I Hate Slow "Instant" searches,
- I Hate GayTube and the ads - I refuse to watch any video with commercial at the beginning
- I Hate the over-reaching, privacy invasion forced upon you spying
- I Hate their financial double standards
- I Hate their Diet: Double Irish and Dutch Sandwich. (related to above)
- I hate fake "fairness" ranking and typing in "maps" and getting google maps on 1st result
- I Hate G faking to be our friend.
- I Hate The Gap of Super Rich and Super Poor

I love fair and balanced ( no not Fox News, oh no)

There is pivotal point at which a cooperation can start spiraling to self destruction. It is very easy to loose focus, spread too thin, become corrupt, inefficient, loose loyal customers while pursuing new ones, provide shittier service and successfully unite enemies against itself.

- I Hate G trying to take over the World ! :-)

Peace Out

Well, why not make our own system like google and youtube?
Afraid if too long years to climb and build our name like google?

Of were not going to be afraid.. Why? Just look at the example.. "Facebook" only started in the late year 2004.. Now where is facebook now? In just 7 years facebook is behind at Google right now or # 2 and google afraid of facebook growth, the growth of Fb are still climbing.. So it's not too late to make a system like Google and Youtube!

I am more afraid of google then illumati and NWO acctually

Google can f*ck up your life if they want, and no not banning your sites

One company in france sued google since the autocomplete matched their company name whit "scam", a private person in france sued google since he googled his name and the autocomplete gave suggestions like "name rapist" and "name pedofil"

And yes google is very powerfull, there services collects information on many surfers for example which makes them hard to beat

When I work on computers and Internet Explorer's home page gets reset to the MS default, I use MS to search Google to find the Google home, navigate to that page, then set it as the home page.

And I've noticed, sometimes using MSN to find Google, Google.com is not the #1 listing on the page. Sometimes Google.com is like #3 or #4.

MSN: "Google? Google who? Not sure if we've ever heard of this place "Google". Let me check my records here and find out. Uh.... Well there's several Google's here. Which one do you want?"

So, I know MSN does it; cooks their results to suit their financial needs. I think it's just a matter of time before Google's policy will allow, for a small and modest fee (think Superbowl commercial air-time fee), Google will give your multi-national corporation "advanced placement" in their results. They've already admitted they manually tweak their results. (I can't find the article.) And in another article, Google proves that MSN directly copies Google's search results and presents them as MSN's own.

http://news.cnet.com/8301-30685_3-20030206-264.html

The results are "cooked", the only question is to what degree. And I think it's a slippery slope; once it starts on this path, it inexorably slides downward into dysfunctionality. It's just a matter of time. Once there is blood in the water, once Google gets a taste of the increased profits that will come about as a result of selling pagerank directly to marketers rather than making them earn it based on their merits, Google will spiral out of control.

So the next question is, "Who will replace them, and when will this happen?"

I believe that a large part of Google's success is the cleanliness of their front page. It's simple and functional. The same is true for Craiglist. And I've noticed that over the last few years Google has become increasingly bloated, adding more & more crap. I remember when their Google logo was a cute little extra, and now it is an annoying pain in the ass. I've seen 4 separate instances of Google Updater being installed and running on a computer I was working on. There are thousands of thousands of registry entries left behind AFTER uninstalling everything Google related. The sentiments of a previous poster are correct; the tide is turning for Google and they are starting to be percieved as "evil".

Heh my first post is about this bunch, who over the past 2 weeks have given me REAL headaches....which I wont go into here, but which will culminate in the destruction of my business that I have worked VERY hard on and invested large amounts of money these past 2 years to build up.

There's nothing wrong with too big in my opinion, if you are the best at something, then you should be the biggest. The problems arise when you start to get an ego about it, and thats what Google has got.

I used to be a fan of Google, the search was good, and the set of tools were useful. Thats all changed though, the search, I feel, has gotten less relevant, and you are constantly pushed with ads everywhere you go.

The tool set they offer, even when OUT of Beta are nothing more than just a Beta, some of them and the API's are half hashed at best, riddled with problems.

Google customer support is none existent and thats wrong, when people use your services to create a living for themselves and have employee's, you should at LEAST have a responsive customer support team for ALL services, not just the ones where you make money.

Thier rules and policies on so many things are convoluted and contradictory...
You're are a major IPO on the stock exchange? Ahh ok do what you want!
You buy lots of adwords from us? OK, go ahead, we will blind eye everything.
Oh you are a small player that doesnt make us much revenue and have violated a policy in the most minor of fashion...RANK DEMOTION, ALL SERVICES BANNED!!

Pathetic!! I'm pretty sure they have no idea of the long tail theory, or that you should look after the majority....majority here being the smaller players and little guys.

At the end of it all, thier main focus is search, forget all the rest, these "me too" social networks and all the other tool-sets, its still search. The entire Google empire is built on a single algorithm, and as soon as someone has another algorithm that is better, Google is dead over night.

You guys make strong arguments. I would love to see some arguments from the opposite opinion as well.

Someone should Rep+ this guy.

I can't stand Googliath and their secret sauce algorithm. Do no harm my ass! End of rant, I have done this before in other threads about these bozos.
