Is google sanbox real?

Yes, Google Sandbox is real, and take my word for it. I have seen it in the 100's of websites that I have built over the course of the past decade along with a lot of my clients' websites.

If you don't believe that "Google Sandbox" exists, then hear what Google's John Mueller, Senior Webmaster Trends Analyst, himself said in this podcast about "Index Waves" and "Sandbox":

You're most welcome dude!! Now shove this into anyone's face that claims that "SANDBOX" is a myth. lol

“With regards to sandbox, we don’t really have this traditional sandbox that a lot of SEOs used to be talking about in the years past. We have a number of algorithms that might look similar, but these are essentially just algorithms trying to understand how the website fits in with the rest of the websites trying to rank for those queries. […] It’s always kind of tricky in the beginning when we have a new website and we don’t quite know where we should put it.”

– John Mueller

I know Google very well. And I informed myself a little about SEO. I didn't rank for 9 months on my first website. After 9 months, there was an incredible increase. All the articles I've written hit the ground running and rose day by day. I opened a new site. I chose keywords. competition is very low. When I look at it, my competitor's backlink strength is 0. Domain strength is 0, I produce good content from the top 10 ranks, but I am not even in the top 100 rank. You say you don't have sanbox. So, can you bring some light to this?
i'm sorry to say, but then you just didnt do it right. its hard to say anything without seing the site and know your strategy i can only guess, which i wont do as it makes no sense.

Okay thanks :)

Sandbox as others have said is definitely real. Length depends on the niche you get into. Sometimes the box is a couple months and other niches can be a good 12 months and beyond. Just build content in the meantime, go after socials and target "very" low hanging fruit with respect to your keyword research and eventually Google will release the chains.

Google Sandbox is Real. Google Sandbox is more like a filter that is placed on your site to downgrade your rankings for specific keywords

As others have suggested, it is definitey real, but the way it works is pretty vague (as many other things with Google search these days)

the sandbox myth is older than 10 years ..i remember in like 2005 people already complained about it.
i dont see it. lately i just setup a new domain (no history i've checked) and it took 1 1/2 days to be indexed mostly with translated content so also not really original and after some promoting (i did all myself, spent $0). first i sent some mostly spammy backlinks automated with my own tool and then created some social media posts (mainly to get direct traffic). after about 8 days it already got traffic from google also bing and baidu and a few visits from duckduckgo. its like 12 days now and it has about 17 keywords in the top 20-30 of google. its also not just some long terms, its actually keywords with high search volume. of course not all of them, but some. now when i create new posts, they are usually indexed the next day, maybe 2.
so that being said, its just a matter of how you build and promote a site in order to get it indexed/ranked. if you dont do anything then it will take ages, which might seem like a sandbox effect.
What kind of spammy backlinks do you do with you own tool? forums?

Here is my humble take on the matter having ranked a few sites

1. You can rank a new website on low competition within 1 month. The competition has to be really low for this to happen
2. Websites gain trust from Google with age and aged website tend to have many links. Links as we all know is core to Google's ranking
3. Throw too many links at a new website and you are asking for trouble. But old websites are somehow immune to this.

YOU cannot rank a new website for a medium/hard keyword (I am talking about payday loans, casino) type keywords within 1 month. If you throw backlinks aggressively at it, Google will smoke the site.

So to answer your question, the sandbox does not exist BUT it is difficult to rank a brand new website since new websites do not have trust and do not have great backlinks yet.

Hi. There are very experienced people here. I want to ask them a question. Is google sanbox real? Have you ever had difficulty ranking your new site?
yes and no... The real thing is that new sites need to pass per several processes google has to “test” the quality and acceleration and that may take much or less time depending on the volume of keywords, amount of content and number of pages.... But is not sandbox is more a lack of I formation and metrics to rank you

Google sandbox is ABSOLUTELY REAL and you can get your sites pages ALL pushed to the very end of Googles results (page100) if you push too many links to your site as an obvious black hat method. And you'll stay there for 6-12 months. GO ahead, try and youll see. I've experienced it. It was loads of fun.

Thank you for your motivational comment.

Well you just described the sandbox.... that's exactly what it is.

It slows down entering the index so it makes SEO more expensive. It forces a longer warmup period and lowers ROI for short term projects which forces projects to buy advertisement.

The thing is that that Warm-up can be done so there is no sandbox. You just need to send the appropiate UX signals for Google to catch then quicker than just wait them happen by themselves. A Sandbox per se would avoid you to speed up things ;)

K agreed, but the warmup now means serious money. A new movie website, for instance, can rank in an instant. So much media behind it.

In the end the sandbox threshold is measured in dollars.

You best believe it’s real.

I've had an older website that has quite a number of pieces of content in it, and it took forever to bounce out of Google sandbox.

What was the problem?

In the beginning, I was just blogging about what I thought people would be interested in.

Month after month, I would check my stats, and—except for the random bot traffic—very few real people were visiting my site.

Then, one day, I read somewhere on this forum that you can reverse-engineer websites.

What I did was I got my Cognoplus VA to get me a monster list of competitor blogs.

I had her run those competitors through the SEO tool that I used, and I was able to find low-difficulty keywords that my competitors' content are pulling up, but they're not optimizing for them.

These lower-competition keywords also get decent traffic.

I would then take all these keywords and make questions out of them using the Google autocomplete method, and I would just create a ton of content through dictablogging.

The end result is I saturate my niche using the techniques above.

That's what bounced out my older blog from Google sandbox.

I then went back to the existing content that I had, ran searches on them to see if I can optimize them, and whipped them into shape.

So if you're stuck in the sandbox, don’t think that there's nothing you can do about it; there’s a lot you can do.

A lot of it is simply tapping the tried and proven strategy of reverse engineering.
