is Google AI snippet destroying SEO?

When users require detailed guidance or aim to complete a transaction, AI Snippets struggle to cover everything.

AI snippets are definitely taking away some clicks, especially for simple questions where Google can summarize the answer. But for deeper topics, reviews, tools, and anything needing nuance, people still click through. SEO isn’t dead - we just need to offer more than what AI can explain in one paragraph.

Definitely it is reducing the traffic to the relevant websites but we dont have any other way to cope up with it.

Yeah, it's changing SEO fast. Top positions might get fewer click, especially for simple queries.

Things based on niche or structured data will not help you prevent that big G AI answer content steal.

Yeah, for informational content, and maybe some local buyer intent things. ECom buyer intent will still be driven by Ads IMO, at least for now.

Yep, what a shame of a two class society big G had built. G prioritizes some content formats , but psssss..... you as a master/ life architect not share the master "password" !

Happy Sunday !

It’s already happening. The top 10 positions in the rankings are already getting much less traffic than before, prior to the implementation of Google AI Overview.

yeah clicks are dropping, especially for informational queries. positions 3–10 are getting hit the most. but high intent searches still get clicks. the shift is toward better titles, deeper content, and building authority so you become a source, not just a result.

Yes, top 10 will likely get fewer clicks due to AI snippets. But SEO isn’t dead sites with unique value and strong content will still win.

yeah top 10 still get visibility but clicks drop because ai snippets satisfy users instantly so driving branded searches and curiosity hooks matters more than pure ranking now

AI snippets are definitely reducing CTR for some informational queries, but they’re not killing SEO just shifting focus toward intent-driven and deeper content.
Top rankings still matter, especially for commercial and long-tail queries where users want more than a quick AI summary.

AI snippets are cutting clicks on basic queries, but they also push SEOs to target high intent, problem solving content that AI can’t fully satisfy.
Top 10 still gets traffic just less passive clicks, more qualified users who actually convert.

This problem hits hard on ecommerce site, AI only pick 2 to 3 source, most people just compare the price between these 2 - 3 sites..

Yes, top 10 clicks may drop slightly as AI snippets satisfy user intent faster, reducing the need to scroll. But ranking high still matters snippets often pull from top results anyway, so being in the top 3 is still valuable.

I noticed fewer clicks on some keywords because users get answers directly on google.
