Is Godaddy CRAZY? All my domains listed for sell?!?!

godady sucks o bad its allways so shady with them but since every one knows them the average person never sees that side of them. what a crap of a group.

Call again, ask to talk with the guy in charge of the entire support department. Tell him you asked what happened and ask him. Obviously he will say he can't tell you. Tell him you are giving him 24 hours to give you a solid explanation of what happened and after that you will take legal action or file a complaint with the FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection, depending on what your lawyer will have to say. Also tell him you will make sure your story will reach the mainstream media.

It is highly unlikely you would win if you'd sue them, but if you manage to make yourself seen as a potential public relations hazard / bad advertising and they think you will file a complaint with FTC, they might tell you more.

If they don't, do file a complaint with FTC and send an open letter to all mainstream media.
 
was the account on private whois? if not he might social engineered hodaddy into giving him your account details ...

personally ive been hearing a lota good about namecheap ... personally i just reged a domain there today it was cheaper that hodady by a good bit...

if hodaddy jerks you around call a lawyer

BRO this is no good! Do an AV boot scan on your PC and also start windows in safe mode without networking then run all your av stuff....this will catch EVERYTHING! I use Malware bytes and Avast
 
Contact namecheap support if youre moving a lot of domains from godaddy. They should give you a deal.
 
These fuckers did the same thing to me about a year and a half ago.

I had registered a badass .com domain and had it set up for about two weeks. Suddenly, I get an email saying it had been sold for $320!

Here's the kicker, I went to NameCheap and I typed in the same domain and searched for all extensions, and the .com domain showed up as being available at normal price!

So, I bought the domain through NameCheap. ;)

Moral of the story: If you have anything with GoDaddy, move it ASAP.
 
dude, if i were you, i would only use name.com and namecheap (preferrably name.com).

godaddy sux big time and it is easily hackable i believe (you are not the only one whose account have been compromised, I had this kind of bad experience too). Godaddy wouldnt care much about this because you are just an individual.

in name.com they have verisign token key/card (similar to google authenticator/internet banking token pin). They also log every IP, even failed login attempts.
 
godaddy have always been the big old gorilla in the corner that doesnt really know either what they are doing or just following the AOL tactic of rip off enough people and they will pay for all the adfvertising that is required to continue to get new people to rip off.

My advice

get a server and get setup as a registrar. oddly since i did that i have never had one of my own domains gone missing or exported without my knowing it.
 
question.. you said you got an email saying the domain had been sold like you listed it.. so did you actually get paid for the domain too? where did that go? anyway to figure out who bought it from those details.

This is why AOL is in the dumps. Long time ago, Them mother fuckers sent me (well my mom back then) a digital camera, flat screen monitor, dragon speak and some other crap within a 2 month span, then one month they charged us for it when we never ordered it to begin with and they would not let us return them. We got rid of aol and didn't have internet for a long while until i got cable internet.
 
sounds very strange to me....even if you forgot to renew your domains and they ended up in auction, they would not notify you when they sale them...are you sure you were not drinking?
 
They have a bad rep but I have never had any problems with them (so far)
I'm sure it's an error and they will fix for you when you call them. Keep us posted.
 
I wouldnt be suprised if their employers are very bad paid and very unhappy and try to steal domains from time to time..
 
I've started migration out of gd (god damned?) early this year, still have about 100 domains there. I do it at the renewal time - just transfer them then. Yes, they suck in more that one way, but this is ridiculous!

It's obvious that it was their security problem.
 
I have a feeling that Threadstart isn't telling the whole story, I mean whats the point on selling your domains?
How can the "hacker" get the cash?
 
WOAH...thats pretty crazy. Do you have an account rep? I have a ton of names there so I have an actual executive account rep who has ALWAYS been very helpful. I have heard though without an account rep it is next to impossible to get answers in situations like these. Keep us posted.
 
On the flip side, you wouldn't have received an email if your account was hacked. They would have changed the email as well.
 
Lol funny but seriously this one is alarming. Glad I moved my domains away from them years ago.
 
I never register at godaddy before, there are no points. They're the most successful domain company ever meaning they've beat the game. There is no point in trying too hard so they can do a sloppy job until some other domain company get on top of them.
