Is Facebook group worth running?

There is small difference between pages and groups , groups are more for community engagement on the other pages are for branding and advertising
Right. I wanted it to be a place for Moms to be able to discuss everything under the sun. But it became a shopping group where women started posting stuff they were selling which was fine really. All women love to shop and check out stuff.

But then came the problems. As the group got busier, spammers (hiring at $200/hour, work from home) started spamming. People started reporting them and I kept receiving warnings from FB. I used their trigger words setting but it was only mildly successful.

Then the other problems began. People who shopped started messaging me about not receiving their products or being scammed into buying low quality stuff.

I mean, I was giving them an open forum to interact. I posted several guidelines, warnings about using due diligence and pinned them. But it was getting too much to handle just for the sake of running a community forum. If I could monetize it, I would have hired a moderator.

So finally, I have paused it. Even deleting an FB group is a crazy amount of work, I found out. So it’s just sitting there … no one is able to post anything. Members can still read old posts.

Yes, running a Facebook group is worth it if you want to build a community, share updates, and connect with people who are interested in your niche.
That was the original idea. But I have listed in the above comments how things got out of hand.

It was supposed to be an extension of my blog.

Totally get it-managing a busy group without return can be exhausting. If it's not worth your time, consider:
  • Adding trusted mods to reduce your workload
  • Using Admin Assist and stricter filters
  • Soft monetizing with shoutouts or affiliate posts
  • Building an email list from the group
  • Quietly selling the group (though FB doesn't allow it officially)

Monetize your group by selling pinning rights, creating VIP groups, or affiliate marketing. Partner with sponsors to promote. If you don't want to manage, hire an assistant or transfer management rights.

you can keep the group and try automating moderation, hiring a moderator, providing paid promos, lead gen, affiliate offers

I do not think so, could you share data if you running it?

You can earn from 2k to 20k per months from Facebook groups with Content Monetization so yes its very worth it as your main business
