Okay so I'm starting to see a lot of mainstream sites reporting on facebook decline coming this next years! And it's starting to make sense, ALL pages are losing a ridiculous amount of organic reach and also as I mentioned in the other thread you have to pay per post now to reach consumers and ads are also getting more slightly expensive thanks to the oversaturation of the page. Is facebook trying to bank hard before the decline?

That's actually a fact, all pages I've managed are having some serious decrease, also when I try to cross promote with twitter for some ''strange reason'' I start losing likes, they want you to pay ads no matter what it's insane

Alltough I am not into fb marketing too much and I do not have a very large page, but yeah.. All the pages I have too are now having decreased "talking about" metric. The likes aren't decreased, but as I believe, you are a serious fb marketer. So you must be having far more likes than me , which might be dropping too..not sure.
They are doing some serious shady stuff these days, also I'm really thinking on investing on facebook in a short term scale, not buying likes just promoted posts, something that makes a quick buck, after this likes have noo meaning at ALL to buy as a serious marketer.

I wonder what the next big social media website will be. When Myspace was dying off, it was because people were migrating to Facebook. But now that Facebook is dying, it seems like people are just using the same other social media sites as they have been (Twitter, Pinterest, etc).
I think that will be very interesting, there will be way more options, I think Twitter will take the lead for a long time, if they don't screw up like facebook with the ads thing of course, if they go public about ads it's gonna happen the same thing that facebook at some point. Facebook still owns instagram tho, let's see how that evolves too
Facebook's share price is essentially at an all time high and their userbase is literally over a billion people and still one of the fastest growing websites on the web in overall numbers (not percentage since they have a large percentage of all internet-connected human beings).
Talking about numbers are going down because content is growing faster than page views ... so inventory is growing, but not as fast as the stories in the feed.

You are very right here. People always say they're not getting likes and shares so Facebook is to blame ... but then you see their content is boring or foolish. There are lots of pages getting huge numbers still ... because their content is amazing and they're doing everything right.

i don't think that facebook will die as fast as myspace did. I think what currently happens is the demographical change of the userbase. IMO this is very good in terms of IM since the new userbase, more adults than kids, means users with buying power. That opens up more opportunities for us who sell online or doing affiliate marketing. Just my thoughts.

2 things are happening: younger users (teens and slightly older) are abandoning it for Twitter (it's a fact, not my opinion). Older people are still jumping on board, and they spend WAY more online, so as an ad platform the teens jumping off isn't a huge deal.
#2, FB realized marketers were getting way too much visibility for free, so they tweaked Fresh Rank to dramatically reduce free visibility. Nothing diff. than what Google is doing with PPC and shopping ads dominating above the fold. TONS of marketers are still making silly money with Facebook, it's the most targeted ad platform on the planet. Remember that before you claim it's worthless or dying.

Never said it was worthless, as I mentioned above these days the only way it works it's by promoted posts, and well about the dying thing you mention, I've read multiple sources caliming it will die by 2017 by like the 85% you can Google it. They are desperate in my opinion to bank, by those measurements they're doing. In my opinion it's gonna have a slow death during the next few years, but as I also mentioned they own instagram and will still buy other new monster plataforms, you got the billions first, you got the power.
That study saying it will die by 2017 was correlation without causation. Facebook's own team responded by using the same method to show that Princeton (the University who did the study) will have no students by 2021. It was hilarious.

The truth is that people now are slowly realizing that Facebook is a waste of their time, and many guides are emphasizing on this point too. Facebook waste your time, and your energy. Many people including me only access to Facebook for a quick 10 mins peek to know more about what are happening among your friends. Everyone will soon do this.
