Is exact keyword anchor in backlink is dangerouos?

When I build backlinks for my clients I link them with various anchors, like exact keyword or keyword+some text. During the competitor analysis I see that a good amount of other SEOs use only exact match anchors. What is your opinion, what is the best solution?

keep the exact anchors under 10% of the total anchors to that page and you're good. Most of your anchors (like 80% of them) should be branded or generic
 
Not dangerous unless you're doing it too much. Just keep it under 3-5% of ur total links and ur fine.

Using more of exact match anchor texts are a red flag, it's easy to spot and would make your link profile appear spammy.

Obviously, you can use the exact anchor text but like around 5-10%. If it so it's a good one.
 
I would suggest you to not get hype all you need to analyze that exact match anchor text can be dangerous. But it is important to note that anchor text can also be overused or misused, which could have a negative impact on SEO.

What exactly constitutes an exact keyword anchor?

If my site is about lawnmowers and i get a backlink and the text anchor is "ford xtmover", is it considered exact? Or are you referring to domain of site?

Mix it up! When linking, use some exact keywords and others that naturally fit the context. It helps your website look more natural and friendly to search engines.
 
Using a variety of anchor text types can help create a natural backlink profile. Exact match anchors effective in some cases but Mixing in branded anchors, partial match anchors, and generic anchors can provide a more diverse and natural link profile.
 
Exact match is fine, as long as you don't over do it. Best practise is to vary anchor text and anchor text types. So some links are exact match, some are close variants, some are just branded, some are mixed brand and keyword, some are naked urls, etc.

If you so this for all anchors, it is a very red flag. . So right thing to do is to mix with other anchors .
 
If you give 100% then that's dangerous obviously. You could keep max 30% exact match anchor.

if you use within 3-5% it won't e dangerous.
 
Overdoing with the exact match anchor will affect your website sometimes. You can use naked, generic, and long tails to diversify the anchor profile.
 
You can use mix of anchor types , it includes exact match anchor and add some text to the anchors to show variations and in

general it is considered as a Good practice...
 
As everyone said 3-5% of exact match anchors won't affect you, but over doing it does harm. Diversify your anchors and mix it up and you are good to use.
 
Never you all your anchor text with the exact match keyword. It will leave you a red flag.
 
When you say 3-5% - do you mean the % of anchor text that link to exact keywords?

It feels as though 'read more' links or 'click here' are far less helpful that descriptive anchor links to dedicated landing pages.

Obviously something I'm doing wrong

Using different types of links, like exact keywords and other variations would be actually good and search engines will like it
 
Using the exact keyword for multiple anchor text is definitely a dangerous thing. It may look like keyword stuffing.
