Is December the worst month for Amazon affiliates?!?!

As the title suggests, this December is performing incredibly poor in comparison with any other month of this year (except July) and I have no idea what's going on. The traffic towards my website is stable and even slightly better, since I am adding new content on a regular basis. Also, I am sending pretty much the same number of people towards Amazon (60+ per day). So, nothing has changed in the keyword ranking or in the traffic, but, while I usually made 400-500 dollars a month, this month is barely scratching 200, barely... To make matter even clearer, the niche is really broad and doesn't target season products.
So, has something happened with Amazon, did they implement something that I missed? How are your websites doing? Are you experiencing the same thing and did you notice what could be causing this weird behaviour?

Holiday season.
Have a break, have a KitKat. :)

On a side note though, you mentioned that your site makes $400-$500 per month and you are at $200 now, affiliate sales are not a clock work most of the time, so it can be that you'll reach those numbers by the end of December or at least close to it, still more than a week left.

At worst your sales will go back up in January.

Do you have stats for the same period last year or is it a newer site?

I really doubt that sales will pick up towards the end of December, since people buy gifts before Christmas and then just stop for a while.
Well, I hope you're right and everything will get better in January. It's just weird since this month is usually one of the best.
As for stats, last year it made about 250 dollars, but with half the traffic and no, the website is not new, it's almost two years old.

Yes, end of November and December are the hardest month. There are more buyers but way more advertisements. So your site is probably getting pushed a few places down by all the holiday sales advertisements.

Sales should definitely boom in last week of december. Why dont you track user behaviour in analytics, which point they are droping or have some goal setup for tracking from website to amazon, that can make you more sense, what exactly going on.

That's the weird thing, everything is constant (sure, there are the occasional drops and recoveries, but nothing out of the ordinary) and pretty much the same number of people go to Amazon and it seems that Amazon doesn't know what to do with them.

End of November through basically today is my best time of the year for affiliate sales on Amazon (I don't even have a website anymore, I just use social media links). My worst time of year tends to be July (August picks up for back to school shopping) and then the weeks after Halloween but before Black Friday. I think people save their $$ for the BF/CM deals so they don't spend consistently for those 3-ish weeks.

You are not the ONLY person who is having such experience because the month of december is a time when most people will be away from their computer, away from library to join their families, friends & colleagues for celebration of the xmax holidays.

So, most people are engage with other social activities within this period.

Thanks

Yeah but not for the whole month of December, at least not for the majority of people. I think this is supported by the fact that the OP is seeing his traffic numbers are on point so people are online and viewing products. The question is why are they not buying.

As a shopper I will tell you that I would have bought about double off Amazon than I actually have but so many times they would not be able to guarantee delivery for Christmas. That is one reason why you could be seeing people abandon their orders or not ordering as much as usual.

This is because Amazon's two day shipping has become closer to 3 day and in some cases 4 day.

I like the above contribution because it makes sense.

Firstofall, people shopping with this period intend to use them either as a gift, use them within the xmas period, so the issue of NOt recieving package with the expected time ofcourse, they know shipment of package can be slow within the month of december.

And, if, there are no guarantee from seller part, specifying that all purchase package will be deliver before xmax or within so..so date, i think most buyer's will give it a second taught before pulling out their cc.

Thanks for sharing this tip @Motherdex, i try to specify this when listing on ebay within holiday period.
