I been always hearing this. the content is king when it comes to whitehat SEO
i want you guys to tell your experience.
is it still true?
if i hire plenty of people to just write content 24x7 on any spacific niche, without any backlinks and onpage Seo. just lots and lost of content. is that gonna work?

Ah, "Content is king", the booming slogan of writers and content sellers.

While having more pages indexed gives you more of a chance to get traffic, it does not have a direct correlation on ranking in the basic sense. For example, if the keyword you want to rank for is "blue and red widgets", and is a competitive term, then no amount of content with the words "blue or red widgets" is going to make you rank well for it.

Backlinks, son.

Constant fresh content is a factor in ranking. Stop blogging if you don't believe me and see how fast your rankings on your blog drop. Eventually Google will realize it's dead and ignore it mostly.
 
Content should still be king for publishing, but I think there are more and more competitions exist over time.

Now it seems that publishers who successfully build engaging community may have more sustainable traffic source.
 
I have sites with pretty much no off-page (just social and great content), which have started to creep up to page 1 for easy terms ... Then I have sites with re-written thin content and a YT video ranked with heavy link building, which are far from "good content", which are ranking 1--3 for high and medium comp.

For long-term revenue, you need both I guess.
 
Content IS the most time-consuming and expensive in the long run though. Which is why many don't like it, so I can understand. Frankly while I believe in content, if you can find a way to make money without it then good-for-you. The name of this game is ranking and money. For me, I need content. And unless you're churning and burning spam sites I don't see how you can avoid it... but I admittedly don't know everything, so I'm sure there are loopholes that some rich bastards aren't sharing yet.
 
What I've noticed mate, content can only hold the throne if thy content is of substantial quality and promoted correctly. I'm only five months in on my first site, and most of my traffic is driven by two of my best posts. Out of ten or so posts total, only two are accountable for 70% of my traffic right now, simply because I did things properly.
 
No Content is not king I can tell you first hand, it would take forever to rank for some decent traffic, whereas others are spamming like human, you will never keep up with them if only going that route.
 
I've always found content alone to be a good driver of traffic even without on-page seo optimized, since it gets long tail keywords related to the niche.

thats not decent traffic and not really good at converting much :)

If you put out content like a maniac it will get alot of traffic(at lest 3 articles of at least 1,500 words per day for 5 days a week for 12 weeks)

I throw out more than 70,000 words a week, this has been done for past 24 months and no content is not king I don't care what that goofy muppet who talks in front of the camera always says.
