Is cheap low quality SEO entirely worthless?

I have a site currently that is making about $300 a month. In total I spent about $10 in SEO on cheap low quality backlinks.

I know very little about off page SEO, so I am very curious. Is purchasing cheap SEO entirely worthless? I find the idea that people continuously promote that it hurts your website is absurd and unrealistic, as if you could damage someone's website for $5 there would be some serious competition issues.

So do you think these cheap spam links I bought 6 months ago had any correlation to my site ranking or is it unrelated? It's on the first page of Google for some relatively uncompetitive keywords, and on the first page of Bing for many more competitive ones. The site has practically no content or effort put into it.

From where I'm standing if $5-10 does anything at all then it's worth it, as that's practically nothing to me. I have been in many industries like this where people constantly touted that buying services is worthless but that was never the case.

I am trying to parse the truth from the fiction here as I am very new to SEO and it seems that people who have been in the game for years still don't really have any idea of what they are talking about.

My hunch is this is something I just have to find out on my own, however I would be curious to know what peoples thoughts are. Are cheap low quality SEO services next to worthelss, or entirely worthless?
 
Advertise on BHW
Do not do such cheap backlinks. If budget is low, do social marketing on Reddit, twitter, Pinterest...those will be worthy.

Without knowing the details, impossible to tell exactly why is your site ranking.

I love how they already try to convince they don't work despite you have straightforward experience and it did not hurt you.

Lets see: Ghost Guy has a BST in his sig where he advertises links that are quite easy to get as some super high quality stuff in very broken english, WPNinja also offer linkbuilding services....

My personal experience is very similar to yours: low quality stuff can help in certain situations. You won't rank payday loans with just those links obviously, but they can work.
 
There is value in cheap SEO to a certain extent.

Some of the value is in Camouflage SEO and some of it can give Google the heads up that there is decent content targeting a low hanging piece of fruit (easy to rank KW) and some of the value is in throwing off your competitors if they are seeing what you are doing and you have a PBN (your own and not a commercial one) that is hidden from the tools such as Ahrefs etc.

As to discrediting @Ghost Guy and @WPninja in a backhanded way because they offer a service that is out of line in my opinion.

I also offer SEO services so my content in this thread should also be discredited? I may not offer then via a BST on BHW but I do a fair amount of SEO for a bunch of decent clients.

There is a place for all kinds of different SEO offerings for many different sites from my experience of the past 12 or 13 years or so.
 
Personally, i didn't get any benefits from cheap SEO :-(
 
SEO gets more expensive every year.

When I started SEO was free. Now it's all about $$$$.

Can you share some strategies of cheap SEO.? I bought cheap links but it never worked for me. You are more experienced and might be able to help me to cut my expenses as i only use PBNs mostly.

Yes, I'm not expecting to rank anything of competition. However I feel for the situations where you want to rank for a keyword, and nobody else is really targeting it very extensively that it may be better than nothing. And anything better than nothing at such a small price point is obviously worth it. Either way I don't think it's likely that it could harm your site so the worst case scenario is you lose a few dollars.
 
There is no more profit on the cheap quality links. You can go with quality SEO links for sure it will give good result
 
Cheap seo is worthless - Yes and No point to your money site won’t help, but point it on tier 1 link or tier 2 links and see your seo dance. However if budget is low then do less but do quality
 
Quality is preferred dude! getting away with cheap stuffs will not always happen.

I must be devil's advocate here because it seems like everyone is one the same bandwagon about the issue.. Cheap seo has its place.. not necessarily to hit your main website, but parasites, tier 2 and above, some types of churn and burn projects.. they can still gain from cheap forms of SEO if you know what you are getting

Low quality seo is obviously worthless also it likes a penality. DO quality backlinks, like content of niche relevant sites to backlinks or link building.
 
Well, if you learn to build links, It's not only cheap but will keep few bucks rolling in. Testing cheap packages has always been a waste of time.

A lot of it is on site content targeting easy to rank KWs.

I share some of that process here - https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/r...mmerce-site-that-pays-you-decent-cash.758805/ - none of that SEO was expensive at all and that kind of site still does very well today using that strategy.

Obviously you need to provide something of significant value to Google to rank a site and it does not always have to be an expensive SEO package (most of which are over priced as they leave a footprint). The links I shared in that thread don't have to be duplicated in the exact manner I shared, and should not be, but a variation of that sort of process works well for a lot of the easier to rank KWs.

I'll take that process over a link from Forbes, Inc, etc (I have them for sites) most of the time for a site that is being built out to be a long term constant growth entity.
 
Don't waste your time and money in Cheap Quality SEO, it's not worth for it.
