Is bounce rate affect on SEO?

Yes, it's one of many ranking factors.

When users come to your page, leave it after a few seconds, and return to the Google search results page, but stay longer on the other pages in the SERPs, it would be a bad signal for example.

On the other hand, if the user isn't returning to the search results at all, that's probably a good signal, as it's likely that he found what he was looking for.

We can't tell exactly how Google is using the bounce rate, and how much weight they are giving it as there are a lot more things that play together when it comes to ranking.

An entry page with a low bounce rate means that the page effectively causes visitors to view more pages and continue deeper into the web site. High bounce rates typically indicate that the website is not doing a good job of attracting the continued interest of visitors.

If your bounce rate is high, this can effect SEO results as a high bounce rate is a sign of poor content to Google and other major search engines.

Bounce rate is not a Google ranking factor. Bounce rate is just a metric – and one Google has repeatedly said does not directly influence Google rankings. ... But lowering your bounce rate is usually a good indicator that your content is engaging, valuable, or useful.

How does a page with infinite scroll come into play? Has anyone explored this?

Let’s say a visitor has a 4 minute session on a single landing/home page compared to visiting 2 pages on a competitors site with a 60 second session.

there’s probably a lot to this weighting factor based on search behavior and interactions with multiple sites as a whole.

Yes, a high bounce rate = bad user experience

Yes, it can have a pretty negative impact on the ranking of that page as a high bounce rate indicates that users aren't satisfied with the page and that they can't find the reason to stay on it longer, and algorithms see this as info that page doesn't have enough reputation and value, so they will rank it lower.

Those are either home page or blog archive pages. They don't rank for keywords. Accept for home page ranking for brand name search. So i think infinite scroll don't have much effect on bounce rate accept for the brand name keyword.
I want to know what other thinks about adding an infinite scroll on home page and can it improve you home page ranking for brand name.

Welp in some cases high bounce rate isn't necessarily bad...

Think like a keyword that focuses on a specific question. The user enters your page finds the answer within 30s-1m and leaves.

That's good in the speed century considering most people aren't interested in reading long-ass articles.

As a side note. You can set events in GA to instantly improve your bounce rate and have a better understanding of user engagement.

You can set events when people scroll on your page, click specific links/buttons and that'll trigger a new session -> better bounce rate.

If you don't have events when people do a call to action on that page (like subscribe, share, click external links) that doesn't send them to a new tab (thus don't create a new session) your bounce rate will still be 100% although they had interacted with your website. This is why it's important to have events otherwise only clicking on internal links will trigger new sessions which is very unlikely.

Although bounce rate does not directly affect organic ranking, it indirectly affects other factors that Google considers — slow page speed, poor design, and insufficient mobile optimization.

The answer is Yes, bounce rate affects your SEO and rankings as users don't like the content and structure of your site and leave your website without moving to other pages at your website.

Yes, it's one of the most powerful signals used by Google to serve the most relevant page for a search query.

John muller said its not a factor.

But if that person stay at the website, what he/she did, in a very large chance, have impacts on rankings, so

In short, bounce rate maybe not, but that person IS.

Fuck them, playing word game whole day.

It is a very important factor. If visitors come to your website and leave in some time, it is bad ranking factor.

No, it will not affect your SEO as it affect only only that page that has poor bounce rate as you can see in a Ecommerce based website if a product page have low bounce rate then it will not affect whole website SEO.

If you will ask my opinion, I think it affects negatively. Especially for new sites, it can be important ranking factor.

Bounce rate effects seo ranking but it is signal that even if you are raking your conversions are going to be affected.

It is a very straightforward and crucial ranking factor!
My page featured in the Google Featured Snippets for only 1 day! With high bounce rate and it immediately dropped back to page 2 on the following day and never able to climbed back to page 1 again.
Mind your content and target your KW aligned with the search intent!
