Oh okay. If you just want to use your free time than there is nothing wrong with your thinking.
Just don't overdo it and try to hold a healthy work/life balance.
After your explaination I think that you're on the right way with your thoughts and there is nothing wrong with starting your own blog.

We are not seeing the death of blogging. Over the past 15 years, it has become increasingly popular. Many people still blog, even if they don't make money from it. There will always be an audience for blogs because they are also used to create brands.

Blogging isnt dead, it just get more difficult as each specific niche is more competitive.

Be very very realistic about the niche you're blogging in. Also, have a gameplan for what your monetization model will be - - will you sell products via affiliate programs, ad revenue, a course, subscription access to a mastermind, consulting etc etc. Traffic is often overrated and conversion underrated. If you're new in this space, stick to micro-niches where you can easily understand your customer avatar. It's great to be passionate about your subject matter but make sure you have a plan about how that passion will pay the bills.

Competition: There are over 600 million blogs, as it is very easy to start and people start it thinking about instant success.
Time consuming: The amount of dedication and time you spend for blogging is too long.
SEO: Its is not a one and done thing. SEO changes over time, and you need to update your website regularly.
