It is a serious question, is BLACKHAT SEO dying out slowly? Since begining of this year (2017) its taking even longer than before to see the impact of backlinks and mostly the alghoritms catch up on everything, I'm serious, buying links still works but you have to spend so much $$$ to even move and to get to top 5 is costing enormous amounts of money (for medium - low competition keywords)

Seriously, even low comp keywords are taking soooo long to see any effect and its getting tougher and tougher soon it will come to the point that it will be too expensive to even move to 2nd page and not profitable anymore, which of course is the point of all this.

Google adwords taking so many spaces on 1st page that is it becoming ridicilous, seriously by end of 2018 BLACKHAT SEO might get too expensive except enormous agencies with clients with deep pockets.

What are your thought, seriously Im asking this, don't troll ffs.

Whitehat still works and will work in future, but earning some serious $$ is going to take you eternity.

Is It Really
Lol ;);)See My Site Stats It's Totally Depend Upon Your Niche & Research

Google is a business who are just driven by market domination and profits.
Why let people make money from you when you can sell and make more money yourself ?

You can imagine that certain keywords will end up as 8 paid ads and 2 organic spaces on Page 1 in the future.

PS, PBNs are dead and don't work = I still see this most weeks.

Well done and "real like" PBNs are working fine

blackhat got easier. Before people were using crazy tools with huge learning curves, now those tools dont do as much as they used to many people have been equalized alot of people quit.

It can be gamed, but at what cost? The cost of SEO has been increasing over the past few years. The ROI is surely not the same. By this, one could infer that BH SEO is slowly edging towards its death-bed.

Complete jump to conclusion. The cost of SEO has gone up, but that has ALWAYS been true. Since the day Google began to fight SEO it's main goal was to make SEO more expensive to conduct, thereby discouraging large scale abuse. This does NOT mean that it is impossible to conduct a successful SEO campaign. Think of this as the rate of inflation in the real world. Every year inflation marches along at around 3% on average. And I'm guessing that the cost it takes a talented marketer to rank has marched along at perhaps the same rate.

Back in the day I used to spend hundreds of dollars a month using SeNuke to spam blast link wheels. Now, if I wanted to, I could do the same thing for pennies on the dollar... only problem is spamming no longer works. So today I spend my dollars on different things, such as contributor posts and my own PBNs. Am I spending far more than I used to back in the spamming days? Not really. The only thing I notice is that the LOW end of the market has shrunk, but this is not proof that SEO is dying at all. Just that the bottom of the market has been forced to stop spamming or quit.

Frankly when I first got into SEO this same stupid topic was being posted. But then it was people complaining that they couldn't footer spam keywords white-on-white to rank and that the sky was falling. Then it was people complaining that they couldn't use duplicate content. Then it was link pyramids. Yet here I am... and here you are. We found new ways to game the system.

Actually, I really disagree. Seo isn't harder, everything still works. It's a problem of people mixing the definition of spam and seo ! They are not the same.

Now, if we agree in this, all you need to do is learning patience. SEO became the game of patience. You need to put your plans 6 months in advance. Same keywords are taking same amount of links for me, but I have to wait 4 months to see the effect instead of 1 - 2 weeks. Other than that, google algorithm is still the same

The other factor people mentioned which is very true, competition is getting harder. More people know about IM and SEO, there are gazillion of courses, youtube videos and im blogs. Moreover, people are using the exact same keywords research ways ( all of keyword tools use same method to generate ideas ) which means everyone is competing on the same keywords. So, it's only logical that competition is getting harder, not google is getting smarter, but people are putting more effort, so, now you need more effort to rank.

So, I will conclude this with if you can do good keyword research + good on page optimization + A LOT OF PATIENCE = you will generate same income you used to make in old days

just my 2cents

SEO is still here, that's why I specifically said BH SEO is dying and surely no one in their sane minds will refute that. Google is slowly turning all BH SEO guys to WH. lol

I am not saying that there is no chance for BH SEO today, but we are advancing towards a scenario where it is a skill of dimnishing value.

Being a young guy, I want to work on something whose momentum will help me push forward later into my career. SEO sadly doesn't seem like it. It is crowded (most things are) and the market size is going to shrink further more as we move into the future. Right now I have no liabilities, no mouths to feed. Almost no responsibilities. So I can choose to not make any money for the next 6 or 12 months in order to meet my long term goals. I might not have this opportunity in the future.

So even though I pride myself in being pretty fucking good when it comes to SEO, I jumped ship. I jumped ship because I would like my work to stay relevant for at least a few years from now. Something that has a momentum.

If I had a penny for every "I's SEO dead?" thread...

No, it's not dying and never will as long as search engines exist. If anything, it will adapr as search engines change.

The "blackhat vs whitehat" distinction is completely meaningless when you're talking about linkbuilding, which I am. All linkbuilding is considered "blackhat" by Google and frankly anything externally you're doing to game the system (buying social shares, 301ing domains with Forbes links, you name it) is also considered "blackhat" by Google.

Linkbuilding is not dead, and it is not GOING to die anytime reasonably soon. In fact Google has said that they do not intend to stop using links as the general base of their calculations, they experimented with it and found the results to be even worse. The only thing Google can do is hold content and footprints to a higher standard, thus making it more expensive to generate a quality link. Period.

they can base their algo on traffic. dont know if you noticed but links from websites with 0 traffic have less value already

They've experimented in this, and found the results worse. They COULD, but then again they COULD base rankings off of how many letters are in a domain name, or what color the footer of a site is... but for quality results nothing has proven more reliable than the validity of links. This is because they speak to the relevance of a site. If you base it off traffic, for instance, you'd have the issue that new sites could literally never rank. Traffic can be (and is) a part of the equation... but the basis is and will likely continue to be links.

Stop fighting guys with long ass post. Anyway it was quite resourceful.

Conclusion:
SEO is still here, it just get harder and expensive and also patience-tester.

The competition increases -> the counterpart of dying out. Maybe it's dying out for you because you can't afford to stay competetive.

depends on your competition..

if you go up against average top 10 having RD200and 50% are high UR/DR content links,, you are up for some tough competition...

and yes. even good links take forever. but that has always been the case..

What you are really seeing is the erosion of easy, highly saturated marketing like affiliate marketing, adsense etc as profit margins were ALWAYS thin but you didn't have to pay for organic search rankings.

Now you do.

That simple :)

+1 for that,
thats'S why I also shifted my niches.
WHY ON EARTH build backlinks to AMA sites???? to get measyl 5% commission??? and have competion lined on #2-30 ???

when the truth, you can sell links to those guys, hoping they never will wake up.. and they will never wake up..

This guy knows ;)

Then you factor in googles guidelines on "money pages" and their HUGE (warranted) distrust of affiliate sites because 99.9% are dog shit copies of reviews from amazon and just plug the products with highest commission.

SO much easier to rank ecommerce sites with long info posts that get backlinks in which the info posts link to products = easiest way to rank ecommerce sites and most ecommerce keywords have fuck all backlinks and rank based on site authority = IMO the NEW alternative to affiliate marketing.

I'm not going to spoonfeed whole business model to everyone here but its pretty easy to find stocks you can sell on your site without investments...

Of course people can't be fucked to work this info out theirselves ;)

Forgot to comment on your last line as it is PURE GOLD.

After all, what do humans do instinctively when they get dumped/rejected/get their passive income removed??

They try a MILLION times harder at the SAME fucking thing = $$$ if you sell them the shovel to dig their own graves.

no, it' just the trend I see on the .de market... everyone got like a bestgardenzwerg2017.biz site upnow....
really, what is the point of that? when in facat 1-10 are big brands like garden companies haven ENORMOUS links behind them?

so, what do you do?

you build a brand for xyz niche.. can take you moths or extreme time (like out reach) or money for content marketing (using PBN for brands is really stupid.... =

or you sell links for the guys competing 11-30 ;)

well, the stuff bring them from #30 to #15.. but not further. but that aint my problem if the UNDERestimate the competition... I did it on many projects for long time also :/.

I just love youtube affilaite stuff.. ther is just: it either ranks or it dont. and if it dont, I give a shit...
