I created backlink on site which do not allow me to do html so I simply put my link on that site will it of any worth?
Is backlink without anchor text is of any worth?

Yes, it is still worth. Naked links are a safe and natural anchor text distribution.

Yes, it is absolutely fine to have backlinks without anchor text. Moreover if they are from site that belongs to your niche, then they will definitely count.

I think Google has said they see "mentions" of brands but I don't think it's a ranking signal.

Yes, this is one of safe link building practice.
Link of any kind will definately help you over ranking and getting better SERP's result.
Do-follow are great, of course but no-follow links are also take into account. I have read Matt cuttstalking about the link juice and he says, link juice is impotant for website but it also depends on what quality of backlink you're building.
A no-follow backlinnks from a authority website gives you more link juice over a poor do-follow backlinks. So, while creating backlinks trying to pick those websites or blogs that has less number of outgoing links and if it relevant to your niche then it gives a perfect shot!

So you are just pasting the link as plain text? No hyperlink created by the editor? If thats case, I doubt you will get any link juice out of it.

sure! in general it doesnt matter, the most important is history and quality of the domain, check if they did any black hat techniques before
