I'm planning to do a small case study regarding on page to see how different kw density % makes an impact in ranking google.

Do you think this will be helpful, or is just a waste of time?

Can anybody point me then to similar study about this?

Also, what else do you want me to test? Like whether if kw is in the first or second paragraph, if meta description has an impact...?

On page case study is always fun to check out. If you have time/resources just do it. :) In my experience on page plays huge role in SEO, especially in low competition kw/niches.

About similar study, I would look at that thread about content writing that hasa1015 posted. Can't recall it's title and I'm a bit tired, you'll find it. Check out that website, that might give you a few hints, he recently updated it with some screenshots that you might find very useful.

I would be interested in seeing a case study about this, I have played with it a bit with some of my web2s but nothing anyone would call a case study.

Ofc, but 2 site case study means nothing. To pull of a case study, at least a sample of 20 sites in 10 different niches, fresh domains, brandable so they dont have advantage. Same amount of content, same amount of links everything should be the same but the thing you are testing.

Of course. I was thinking about creating 5-10 wordpress.com web 2.0 , and use the same theme, same lenght, completely unrelated content to the niche, I'll add the same number of BL(thinking of cheap PBN).

Then I'll inject keyword once, then twice, then three and see if it gets over optimized. Then I was putting the keyword at first paragraph, then second etc.

I'm not sure about the idea of using different kw niches, as the algorithm is global, I'm pretty sure about that.

But perhaps 5-10 is way too low to make a solid case study.

    IMO Small =/= good.

Just because something happens once does not mean it is fact. Try it 100x and control EVERY variable.

I would be interested to see:

KW in URL (Keep the Paragraphing, total length, KWD, KW placement, Links, Site age blah blah the same)
    Article length (^^)
    KW in first Para (^^)
    KWD (0.5% through 4%)

    The list goes on....

@gman777 I have a thought for you. Why not try to do it in two ways -

    1. Over optimized
    2. Natural optimized

For me, over optimization is - Keyword in the title, meta, all header tags, alt tag, URL, body part several times, interlinking with other pages using targeted keywords only, multiple posts on the same topic, keyword proximity on content, keyword placement and so on.

Natural optimization something like - Using the main keyword with LSI keywords but not in everywhere. Just tried to follow the natural process as much as possible and see the impact.

Yes, would love to check your case study :)

Absolutely, even a small test set would provide pointers for what to explore further.

Case study is always great, but in my honest opinion case study about onpage is just useless right now, there are a bunch of case studies on the topic already including: https://ahrefs.com/blog/on-page-seo/

I have keywords with 3.5% keyword density on top 3 and other keywords with 1% on top 3 as well, there are so many variables on SEO that you can't come up with a clean conclusion even if you setup 1000 websites, just study the top 10 competitors on any keywords and you are going to learn more than setup a case study about onpage.
