Anyway OP, the h1 tag doesn't change anything and doesn't affect your rankings.

leaving it empty is not a good thing.

"The <h1> to <h6> tags are used to define HTML headings." it's not really that important.
to remove it you will need some changes in header.php file and it's a $5 fiverr job.
