    I don't like my h1 tag being the same name as my title. If I were to go into my post template and rip it out, and make a new <h1> tag in each post, I notice that it shows that I have an empty h1 tag along with the new h1 tag. Is this bad for SEO, and if it is, is there a way to completely remove the old <h1> code? Thanks!

    <h1> Lady Bugs are Awesome
    <p> blah blah blah

    It's messy, imo. But I have yet to see anything that says it will give you less "Google points" than you'd normally get.

    I'm assuming it's templated design like WordPress or something.

    Just modify the code to remove the errant tags.

    Get a developper to remove the issue from your template, you don't want to take any "risk"

    It's obviously wrong as you never know how the SE's are going to parse the data. You should never leave any room for misunderstandings.

    Probably wont make much of a difference, but should be a simple fix if its a wordpress template.

    Thanks for the replies everyone. Yes, I guess I'm going to need to hire a programmer :(

    Its a wordpress template, I can't find any literature which tells me how to get rid of it from the code though. Definitely not my field of expertise

    This is a really quick job, a 5$ dollar job , There is like one line to comment in the php source code of the template , one in the single.php and another one for the static pages if you are using any.

    And I agree with the previous posters, don't take a risk , the googlebot shows sometimes some ackward results even whith a properly formated html code.

    Sometimes the developpers of the theme would be very happy to help you out if you are a returning customer. It won't take them more than 5 minutes.

    It will not make that much difference, It's not injecting any keywords into the algorithm. Fix it if you can, or if it's the last thing you can find to fix.

    Otherwise, ignore it.

    just pop

    h1 {display:none;}

    into the style.css for the theme, you can do that in the theme editor

    The display none, is for users not targetted toward the search engines bots. The bots will still be able to see it withing the code and parse it.
