is Alexa ranking real?

There are websites with alexa rank 1Mio and earn quite a good money from adveritising. So it is not a big deal.

You do get a lot of information from it tho?

I use the Pro package which is 9,99 USD a month. With this i can compare my site to my competitors site and get "some" information on traffic. But! The biggest plus is that you can check competitors sites, how many links they have to their site, social signals etc. I find it useful!

I wonder how late Alexa ranking is. When my site just had 1200 v/day the rank was around 800k. Now that the site has 2200 v/day, its Alexa rank dropped to 1,400,000!

Only this will works for selling links or showing to the advertisers to provide fake data. Alexa won't generate money it is just to show site reachable audience.

You can also find in Alexa how much search visitors are getting to your site.

yes alexa is real but first try to concentrate on getting more and more traffic...everything ll be fine after that.

Alexa is real for traffic analyzing, however for your question may be competitors sites are doing well. Did you seen the Analytics of past month to know the evidence of losing rank.
If you are good with in making revenue then no need to relive on Alexa rank.

Really?? :O
Go with some traffic related method and then check once more.

Same here but my analytics tool is not showing any drop in traffic... and sales are good as well... i noticed my competitors sites on the same industry are also dropping like crazy since 4 months I guess... Don't know what's going on. Searched on the web but no one is talking... So I'm not much concerned as long as my analytics tool is showing the normal traffic flow and my sales are not hurting...

Alexa I believe is there to see the reach you get in terms of traffic, it's not really something to take seriously and I would be more concerned about other rankings over Alexa.

How does Alexa get that information? Just curious. I don't care about it because it doesn't seem to impact sales/revenue and that's what I focus on.

Keep in mind Alexa only measures visits where users have the toolbar installed. Dropping from 300,000 to 700,000 doesn't tell you anything about your traffic. It pretty much just means you weren't checking your own site w/ the Alexa toolbar as frequently as you used to.

It's nice to follow and watch increase I will admit as it means you are doing something right but I wouldn't take it for granted or follow it too much.

Thanks for that information.

Alexa isn't the most reliable tool, too slow.
