is Alexa ranking real?

Alexa ranking can be gamed to some extent... But in layman's term you can say that you are getting less traffic then usual and that's why you are alexa ranking is going down.
 
Does it matter? Unless you're trying to sell the domain, a low Alexa rank never made money for anyone.
 
It is not a reliable metric. I would ignore it.

You site Alexa may decrease greatly if you have traffic from users who have alexa toolbar installed in their browser.

I think you meant to write 'increase', because traffic from users with the alexa toolbar installed in their browsers will increase your alexa rank, not decrease it.
 
Alexa rank is a worthless metric. If you pay attention to it, you'll be wasting precious time on something that won't do your site any good.
 
Alexa is purely for e-penis stroking, or selling websites to stupid people. It's not accurate or useful for anything. Even if it is occasionally close for your site, do not judge any other sites by it. Do not delude yourself into believing pure traffic numbers matter. There are far too many variables in running a website.
 
Mate there is no use in thinking about the Alexa ranking... It wont help you in anyways and not the important metrics.. It is not real..
 
Don't people need to have the alexa toolbar installed on their browser when visiting sites for the stats, and how many people have or use that!
I like to you use alexa when I am unsure about a website for the first time. Say for example they offer an affiliate programme, but are ranked in the millions, then it's safe to say your not going to get anywhere fast.

I agree, Alexa ranking is not important factor. But based on Alexa ranking, many bloggers fixing their blog price.
