Is a high Alexa ranking important?

Hello Guys,

In recent months I've been waking up everyday looking at my Alexa ranking and seeing if there is any improvement. However is it important & what does it say about your website?

How accurate is it & do people look at it when making purchases.

A little discussion would be very helpful.

If u r going to sell that site then its important,,, otherwise ok ok. You can't rely on alexa.
 
If you're going to sell it, then yes it is very important. In my opinion, if you're going to do things the right way you need to have 3 things, which is common sense. High PR, ranking for many keywords, and a good alexa ranking. Just my thoughts.
 
Very important if you are selling your site.
 
Personally, I don't think it is important at all. Alexa rank is highly skewed toward the kinds of sites people who download the Alexa toolbar visit (my guess would be tech and marketing related sites) so it is very inaccurate. There are mehtods to manipulate Alexa rank but if you're trying to sell a site and somehow your site shows a higher Alexa rank than say Black Hat World, you would probably lose all credibility and casue potential buyers to question any other claims you make about a site.

If you want to sell a site more important is higher Pagerank but even that can't compete with proof of REAL traffic and revenue. Who cares about Alexa rank and PR if you can show solid revenue numbers.
 
Is not very accurate but if you want to sell the website for example, some might take the alexa ranking in consideration.

Tho most care only for google analytics stats.
 
It is not a very good measure of traffic. SemRush is far more accurate. People do not look at it when making a product purchase, but they may look at it if they are buying your site. Focus on getting natural keywords ranking, that is far more important. I would buy a site with good organic traffic and a bad alexa rank in a heartbeat. On the other hand, I would not buy a site simply because the alexa rank is high.

Alexa rank was launched in 2006 or 2007 year dont know exactly .In beginning it was not important now it became important factor to determine the traffic value.With out it we cant know from where we are getting traffic,they are also other tools but every body looks at alexa first.
 
Absolutely not. Do not get caught up in Alexa rankings.

I've had clients ask me about that, but organic and Alexa rankings don't necessarily correlate accurately. I've had clients that we've solidified numerous #1 rankings for competitive national keywords with a plethora of traffic coming to their website ... and for some reason their Alexa rankings continued to drop.

I honestly would not worry about it. What are you more concerned about, high organic rankings, traffic and revenue ... or your Alexa rankings lol?
 
My client always requirement check PR and Alexa rank as well, i think both are important to check it popularity so importation. i think some reasons like Additional Exposure For Your Site, Alexa's relationship with Google.com,ur competitor's awareness is increasing, Client awareness is rising , Alexa's Perceived Importance,Alexa's Actual Importance.
 
If your looking to increase your Alexa ranking, I would recommend getting your website verified with Alexa. My websites were all ranked #2,000,000+ and since I verified them they all dropped down under #1,000,000 (one is now ranked ~616,000 and another is ranked ~705,000)
 
I suggest also to fake down the Alexa ranking ... That's what I do, as I have several domains, I want to get rid of it and all customers (before I faked them) claimed, Alexa rank is too high .. So I lowered them with actual tools to get them down within 2 weeks ... Once it's sold, I stopped the tool :-) - and Alexa Rank went up again (ooops). Just a hint for one of actual working tools ->

i am agree with all reasons that's really good point, Alexa's relationship with Google.com point nice. Alexa always helpful for SERP results.
