Is a Footer Backlink from an Aged Website Good for SEO?

Hi guys,

I have a website that is a little over one month old. It is fully developed, and I have already created basic social media links. (about more 50 links social like: fb, x, pinterest, youtube.....)

my friend who owns a website in the exact same niche as mine. His website is 7 years old and already has backlinks and a certain amount of traffic. He has placed a backlink in the footer of his website pointing to the homepage of my site.

I am wondering whether this is beneficial for my website. Will this help my SEO, or is there a risk that Google might penalize my site for this type of backlink?

Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I’m wondering if my website is still too new (just over one month old) to start getting backlinks. I was thinking that a backlink from the homepage, specifically in the footer, would carry more authority than a link within an article.

but for a new site, it's best to focus on natural, high-quality links. A homepage footer link might pass some authority, but contextual links within articles are usually more valuable for SEO. Just ensure your backlink profile grows naturally to avoid any red flags from Google.
 
It’s not completely ineffective, but embedding it within the content is more effective. Also, placing it in the header or footer could have a negative impact on unrelated sites.
 
I remember around 7-8 years ago, another website did the same thing. They put a backlink to their site on a domain with many pages in the footer, and they had a positive impact. I couldn't seem to find the thread, though.

A footer backlink from an aged, relevant site can help with authority and indexing, but site-wide footer links may look unnatural to Google. Use branded/natural anchor text instead of exact-match keywords. A contextual link in content is much better than a footer link. Keep diversifying backlinks to stay safe.
 
Use developed by created by our partner site something relates two sites, don't just put link that looks spammy and scatchy.
If has seo benefits of your friends site is getting traffic to his site.
 
One backlink won't make or break you, but a relevant site linking to yours is never bad. I'd be more concerned about diversifying your link profile as you grow.
 
If all your backlinks are in the footer (or most of them), I don't think anything good will come of it, but a couple of links from the footer will definitely benefit your site.
 
It is okay to have one or two links in the footer as long as they are relevant to your niche and add value to users. However, if you overdo it with too many links in the footer, it can look spammy and could be seen as an attempt to manipulate search rankings, which might lead to a penalty.

People telling you how content links are better than footer links are clueless. Just a couple of average Sidebar or Footer links can rank your site in top 3 for many KWs if your on-page SEO is done well.
 
Actually, my website is just over a month old, so I'm confused about whether having a backlink from the footer could be penalized by Google. As for my friend's website, it has been around for a long time, as I mentioned earlier. The niche is exactly the same as mine—specifically, my website focuses on uniform clothing, and so does his. Anyway, I appreciate all your feedback. I will monitor it for some time to see what the results will be.

An update: Before my friend placed a link in the footer of his website, I had just finished writing an informational article, and that article had reached Page 2—at some points, it even appeared on Page 1. Of course, it was an informational keyword with low competition and modest search volume. However, I believe that having a keyword rank on Page 1 or 2 for a new website is quite a positive sign
 
if it's from a relevant site, it'll definitely help to boost your site authority. But do not overdo it, too many links from footer seem spammy.
 
Every web design & development agency site in google top10 has footer backlinks from created websites to their sites. So i guess it doesn't hurt at least
