Blogging in gaming is still quite profitable if you know what you're doing.
I'm sure that my answer would apply to almost all niches, but this is particularly crucial and relevant to the gaming niche.
You have to understand that gaming blogs pop up and die off every day.
There's just so many people putting up blogs, getting all excited about a hot new game.
And pretty soon their passion goes away and so do their blogs.
If you want to become profitable, the first step is to be consistent.
This might mean that you have to set up an evergreen content publishing schedule so when you're feeling motivated, you create a lot of content and schedule these for publication in the future.
This way, when you go through weeks if not months of having absolutely no motivation to blog, your blog will still be publishing content.
The next thing that you need to focus on is positioning.
You have to understand that the gaming niche is very big, and there's just so many different directions you can go.
One of the worst approaches you can take is to set up some sort of gaming niche news blog.

If you don't have much time or passion for this niche right now, what makes you think that you will be able to sustain a gaming news niche site?
