My knowledge of proxies is pretty limited to just the little research that I have done since being a member here on BHW.
I have learned enough to know that proxies are either...
1) free, unreliable, blacklisted.
or
2) an expensive recurring fee (overhead) for working and exclusive.
So as an alternative, and for the purposes of things like creating gmail accounts, DL posting and the like, I have learned that resetting your IP (DSL modem is simple to do) is effective.
What I would like clarification on is how easy is it for someone to trace my location (physical address) if I am simply rotating my IP address at my modem.
Incidentally the portion of my IP address that is changed is only up to the C block. A and B remain the same.
My guess is that proxies are infinitely more safe as far as covering tracks. I would just like to know what is would take to trace me with the above example.
Thanks.
