Hi everyone
I would appreciate explanation for something I came across recently.
I noticed a website in my niche (online casino) ranking for certain keywords and something seemed off. I took a look at the website to notice that the meta title has casino related keywords, however, the website itself was about a totally different topic.
This has lead me into a deeper investigation where I discovered that GoogleBot is presented with a different content
the website in question is
When you normally open the website - you see this:

When you use googlebot agent to load the website, it looks like this:

Obviously users see one version of the website while other is presented to GoogleBot.
Looking at the waybackmachine data I could notice minor changes to the website, but nothing serious
Digging deeper I discovered that recently the website acquired a lot of backlinks and the organic traffic/keywords started spiking as in the screenshots below.

This has lead to discovery of further similar domains, with similar setuo of casino content cloaked from the user.
The other websites are below and they all seem to be interlinked.
Im looking for an explanation of this technique, if it even is a technique:
-> Why would one cloak content from users?
-> Doesnt it make more sense to do it like classic PBNs instead of like this?
-> Is this like a network that then gets plugged into a money site, or a Tier2 of money site to give it power?
Any other ideas? What is being done here?
It might be something already seen, but to me its new and Id like to hear how and why is it done this way?
