What do you mean by hitting the popular page? Getting a photo on pop page, or commenting on pop page?

Not that hard at all if you know what you're doing, but yes, it's much more difficult than it was before.
Offtopic - Could you explain what does Instagram Guru means? I was always curious about that.

I feel a little sarcasm behind this

1. gurus usually don't ask questions, don't ask for help (at least not in the form of public threads)
2. they already have all the answers even before there was a question
3. every each of them is a chuck norris on his/her own field
+1 real gurus usually don't have negative rep on bhw, only the self proclaimed ones
