You can also read Instagram-engineers or engineering on Tumblr. Big enough the Instagram Engineers who created the algorithm are pretty upfront about when they do things how they do things and why they do things. It's a dry read but it's definitely a good one.

I hope that all the bought fake followers will get dropped and that everyone that sells fake followers saying that they are real go bankrupt!!! Scumbags!!!

All fakes where dropped a couple months ago.. they are still going to have the same problem soon again.
