Hello Blackhatters doing IG,
Just to inform you, Instagram killed Pagination! (NOT VERY GOOD)

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN??

Before, for example; if you wanted to follow a user's followers, you request the user's followers list.

Instagram would return around 200. If you wanted more users, you could load more using Pagination with a next_max_id that Instagram provided.

In plain terms, think of it when using the app, when you scroll to the bottom, it starts loading and more users appear.

Yea, Instagram killed this.

Now, Instagram returns around 7000 users of the follower/following and that's it!
This may be a new chapter of Instagram for us where we can only scrape so many users.

For the moment, you can still scrape users from other sources such as comments, hashtags etc
However, Instagram may begin to extend this function soon!

Stay sharp ;)

I have never been following these users in this way.

In order to assure active users for my accounts, I always follow the users which COMMENT+LIKE the specific person's posts and to maximize the chance that he will follow me I like 2-3 of his posts.

good share:)
source?
You know this from what source?

I work with Instagrams Private API a lot. It has changed for requesting users followers or following.
Even for your own followers/following.

Other developers from other countries verified this too when I asked them.
A way you can see this is by going into the app and loading your own followers, you will see it taking a while to load as it is loading around 7000 users instead of 200. If you scroll to the bottom, no more will be loaded.

Instagram introduced a new feature recently - Searching. You can search through a follower/following list but they will only show you limited results again!
You can no longer view all of it. (Unless they change it back, I doubt it :P)

Following all the account's followers is stupid anyway. There may be inactive users and just logging in once in a week. More reasonable is to follow these that show activity.

If I am not mistaken, if you start from the top, the list of followers shows those who most recently followed, alluding that they are the most recent active users interested in what that Instagram account has to provide.

Or just snipe the user posts and target those that are commenting + liking it

Your method is good and will be more widely used due to this problem.
However, doing all that uses up a lot of resources!
You want a bot to run as smoothly as possible, especially with high volumes of accounts ;)

I do have one ;)

I just tested pagination using their private API.
I was able to retrieve +50k users from some random profile's followers list.
I don't think your source is correct right now.
I did notice (in the past) that their pagination is not always working well, sometimes it's able to scrape 200 other times it can scrape 50k users. Maybe there is a server overload issue and they restrict things?

Instagram has updated their API to remove pagination.
Are you still paginating it? Are you working with next_max_ids?

I just checked the API there, it seems they reverted back to pagination...
Possibly, they will revert back or maybe it was just a temporary change while doing some updates o_O
I'll be looking into the API again

Probably just AB testing, perhaps they have server load problem. Or just some dev screwed something up lol

I never understood that, get asked quite a lot best way to scrape a million followers from X account. As you say, many will be inactive, perhaps fake accounts and probably low engagement if is a major account. Much better getting followers of followers of. Grab 1000 followers of the main account, then grab 100 from each. Most will be recent followers of so active.

Most bots do that, they like and comment so you end up following bots, in the world of full of fake (i.e. instagram .....)

Me too..I can still scrape 48k user without any problem

So you are telling me that most bots arent followin?

obviously they aren't. With your results you may get better engagement but following followers has better followback ratio sometimes even upto 50%

The same thing happened few weeks back.
It is unlikely a permanent thing they are doing, could be a bug in their system or just some maintenance thing.
