Hey guys, I've got a question

I've been out of business for couple months and I'm trying to come back, but I'm struggling with targeting and keeping USA and other premium countries as main audience.

I have an IG account of one of my models which has over 20k rn, at first there was a lot of Indians, then they they disappeared and lately I see a lot of Russia in my top 5 on every reel that got over 10k views.

I post mainly lip-syncs and dance trends to music in English without any text on it, use hashtags and I've got "Venice/ LA " text in my bio.

Is there any way to fix the audience and targeting on account with over 20k followers, besides ads? Maybe I should add a text on the reel or something, don't really know. Really appreciate any help, cuz I feel like I'm wasting so many subs and time.

visual-only dance trends will always get pulled into global low-tier traffic pools because anyone can consume them without language context

Try changing your content to english only in order to fix this problem.

But in case all the content are music, lip-sync, and dance video only, there will not be much data available to identify any particular target audience for Insta. this can be done by including voice-overs, caption nd popular subjects among american users.

once the algorithm has learned a certain pattern it takes some time to move an audience. i would stop paying attention to the follower count nd start to send clearer signalls through ur content. try captions that appeal to a US audience engage with creators in ur target nich end post consistently at US time zones. It is usually better to make small changes over weeks rather than trying to force a quick reset.

Changing your bio text or hashtags won't fix this because Instagram prioritizes device-level hardware and network metadata over text strings when establishing your content's initial testing pool. If the device/account was originally warmed up, automated, or logged into from non-US IP blocks—or if it lacks local US carrier SIM data—the algorithm defaults your distribution to cheap, high-velocity view pools (like Russia or India) to maximize platform retention numbers.
To aggressively force a pivot back to premium Tier-1 traffic without running paid ads, you have to fix the account's technical footprint. This means stripping the app's cached device ID, routing through highly clean, dedicated residential US proxy nodes, and injecting hard, locally-indexed geo-tags directly into the Reels' structural metadata alongside on-screen English text overlays that the algorithmic OCR (Optical Character Recognition) can parse instantly.
Are you managing this account from a standard mobile setup or using an anti-detect browser infrastructure to mask the location?

based on my understanding having a large number of followers does not necessariily mean that ur content will be shown to the correct audieence by the algorithm. if ur recent engagement is coming from places where u do not wish it to come from then instagram will probably continue experimenting with ur content there. i would rather concentrate on creating relevant content through style, sound, caption nd timing.
