Greetings Black Hat. I am in desperate need of some advice as I am in a sticky situation when it comes to Instagram, I am currently being harassed by this nut for a long time now, I have tried blocking him and blocking his comments, but it does nothing, he just makes a new account. I have reported him a lot too and I think Instagram did block his IP from using the website at one point, but he is still able to contact me, which leads me to think he is using VPN to make new accounts when I block him...

I was wondering if i am to go on this crusade of trying to contact Instagram directly, would they be able to block him in some way of contacting me despite how many accounts he makes, I was thinking that maybe his computer or phone has a designated IP address which can’t be changed, could there be a way that Instagram could block that IP so despite how many accounts he makes with VPN they could at least mute him from contacting me. It’s a long shot, but I have to ask since I am in this position.

Get back to me if anyone knows, thank you!

Ignore him/her.

Thanks for the quick advice Bass Tracker, but with the public seeing his comments too, that’s easier said than done and in this day and age, I think Instagram could be doing something more about it... just wanted to see if anyone knows before desperately trying to contact them.

Pro tip:

When he/she harrases you, probably makes fun of you. Instead of opposing it and arguing with him/her. Just say yes you're right. This will make it less interesting for the harraser to bully you.

For eg.

If she/ he says 'you're ugly'

Reply with, Yes, i did have a doubt about that, thanks for confirming it.

I reccomend this technique to my friend back in shcool, who was bullied by seniors because he was fat. 2 days later they stopped bullying him.

Thanks Vinny, but I am in my 30s and this is more along the lines of adult harassment. Sometimes, believe it or not, he can be nice with me complementing on my business, and then at times when I do just ignore him, he comes back with the rude remarks. People also say to go private, but I don’t want to do that as I do have a business to run and it’s hard to gain followers when your profile is private and I shouldn’t have to do that when it comes to the likes of him.

Thinking of going to the cops while on my crusade to see if at least they could get in touch with Instagram directly or perhaps a lawyer...

Just trying to seek some advice first, if there is anyone that knows about this technical jargon lol. Thanks for your replies so far!

Enable comments filtering by keywords, and filter his comments. Don't delete them so he thinks his comments are visible and everyone's ignoring him. Great tool but u need business profile for that.

instagram have feature to disable commenting ..... disable your comment for some times... later you can turn it on.... check out this link you find how to turn off you comment...

Hi Edvard, I wonder if you can tell me more about this. I just don’t know if that would be of much help either since he says something different each time he comments which the filter can’t really do much about, that helps when it comes to spam accounts, but not an actual hater, unless there is something I don’t know about. Can you explain this more if you can? Thank you!

Buck up.

"This day and age" - cop out phrase and cop out thinking.

Just ignore them.

Thank you for your support guys. It’s funny, but when being harassed, it’s nice to have support from other people and it’s the same on my Instagram page. Hopefully someday he will stop. I will take all of your advice and use it. Hopefully it will help.

Forgot to ask this question, is it possible for Instagram to get my harassers MAC address and that way they could secretly mute him to prevent him contacting me since it doesn’t seem the IP method will work since he has VPN on his side could MAC be the way to go? I thought of this method since I have heard Instagram does device bans on people who break the rules too many times.

Ignore him. I've been in this situation and in the end you get even more upset of all the frustration from not being able to control it. He'll eventually get bored. I'm sorry that you are in this situation.

Anybody know about what I said earlier, is there a possible way that Instagram could even mute him using his MAC address which cannot be hidden from them to my understanding as a means not to contact me? Long shot, but I have to ask as I may go down that route if I manage to get in touch with them directly.

Remind them of their responsibility to ensure your internet safety and failing to do so could have repercussions on your well being if this person was to find too much about you. Unsure of they have to do any of above but it will atleast push them into action.

I would of course do as you say, but better knowing first if they have the ability to mute him from contacting me... it's a long shot, I will keep asking around anyway. Thanks Machine!
