Hey everyone,

Just curious: I'm running an Instagram account in a niche which is hobby of mine. I've started out in November 2017 and did everything manually: No botting or artificial boosts.

So far so good but the last 2-3 weeks I see my followers growing but my engagement is going down.

e.g: on May 15th my engagement was 20% with 815 followers, today I have 968 followers with just 16.90% engagement. All the content I post is unique and created by myself.

Someone any tips how to improve this? :)

Maybe @IGKing ? :D

The higher the followers, the lower the engagement. Read it on one site.

u know what's funny, 20% out of 815 followers is pretty much the same (+- 1 follower) as 16.90% out of 968 :D

anyway I think u start to overthink this too early. give it another month or two and see what's going to happen, anyway the more followers you will have the "less" engament you will see, just because the part of new followers is going inactive/are bots/become less interested in your content/etc...

Didn't look at it from that perspective :D

Yeah maybe overthinking this too soon, it's the first time I use Instagram for real and these numbers took my attention. But in the other way: More followers = more people see my content (at least thats what I'm thinking). If I check some similar accounts I follow, they are growing their followers and engagement. Any ideas on that?

One account for example: They have more photos in a shorter time, about 100 followers more than me and an engagement rate of 25%.

Yeah, the engagement should go up, just the percentage would be lower (did u see much million+ follower accounts who has engagement of 20%? me not).

there could be a ton of reasons why the engagement of this account is better then yours.. just analyze your acc and your content, if you feel that everything is fine, then keep on and that's it (imo :) )

Yes I wish I could grow both my followers and engagement at the same time, but engagement percentage just seem to go down... I wish I could find a solution for this, seeing that accounts that get 200 followers per day and their engagement just goes up and up. A bit discouraging.

I deleted 2 older, crappy posts which had about 30 likes each and no comments and seeing 1% improvement (using IGBlade from a fellow member here). 've started with stories too so I have to test if it really helps to delete worse posts.

Thanks for thinking with me :)
