Instagram copying YouTube?

As a creator, I kinda like the idea. Sometimes 90 seconds just isn’t enough to explain something properly. But the key will be how IG promotes these longer Reels — if they don’t get pushed in the algorithm, no one will bother making them.

Longer Reels could work if content stays engaging, but bite-sized videos still drive quick scrolls and discovery.

reels interactions develop with caption, attention, time frame and effect on upload reel videos, making exact time frame reel on upload content with video app effect to increase viewer interest/attention on viewing, interact with the reel/video

i believe it ll work. because if people dont want to see full video they ll maybe just scroll. and some people spend more time on facebook longer video so maybe it ll work for instagram

Yeah, Instagram’s definitely chasing YouTube-style watch time. Longer Reels could help creators tell full stories, but it might hurt the app’s “quick scroll” appeal. Success will depend on whether users actually stay for 10-minute videos or just skip past them.

Yeah, it’s kinda wild—longer Reels might mess with Instagram’s whole quick-scroll vibe, but it could pull in a whole new crowd if they play it right!
