Hi everyone,

So I pretty much have an insane domain in the adult industry which gets around 3000 uniques per month just by manual searches. I made a website and submitted to Google. I don't have any SEO experience or knowledge. I have attached the current stats but wanted to ask how important are those backlinks and links in general? Can I grow the site naturally without them or it just won't happen?

Learn SEO first. The threads here on BHW should be enough to learn all this information .

install google analytics. check which pages are still getting views. create those pages in the website.

Then create sub pages related to those pages, you will be able to rank the website + new pages too.

SEO is not just about backlinks. You need on-page SEO and site structure for proper indexing. You can check impressions and improve CTR with title and featured image optimization. As you have high average position but still getting clicks, people are desperate for your content. So, you need to push for more reach to get exponential growth.

Good domain and 3k direct traffic is a great start.

Backlinks still matter, especially in adult where competition is strong. You can grow a bit with good content and internal linking, but you’ll likely hit a limit without external links.

Focus first on solid on page SEO, then add a few quality niche links to push growth.

Hey! I would suggest that you initially focus on making good material that your audience will find useful. This alone can help your site expand on its own. Backlinks can be helpful, but having solid site structure and regular, interesting content is frequently more vital, especially at first. Over time, adopting some fundamental SEO tactics can also help you get a lot more traffic without having to rely on links.

If the domain is truly strong, your first step should be auditing backlink quality and domain history (Wayback, anchors, spam signals, past penalties). If it’s clean, you’ve got a few solid options: rebuild it as a money site in a relevant niche, use it as a high‑quality PBN asset, or 301 it into a related project. Don’t rush a good domain can be wasted fast with bad content or spammy links. Start slow, test, and preserve the trust.

@zedzed With 3,000 monthly direct visitors, you have a massive advantage because Google treats that direct traffic as a huge trust signal.
You can definitely grow naturally for a while, but eventually, you will likely need backlinks to compete for broader, high-volume keywords.
Are you focusing on keeping those direct visitors engaged (low bounce rate), as that user signal will help you rank without links initially?

This is the traffic stats from Umami. I am just not sure even if i find "links" backlinks or whatever, how to i know if they wouldnt make the site worse :D, like is there a possibility that i could fu*k things up? I've been trying to read and the SEO on-site should be decently done, its just the links i dont understand that much. If i buy links does it mean that google will pretty much push me higher on the pages simply?

With a domain already getting 3k type-in searches, you’ve got a strong base. But no, in competitive niches like adult, you won’t grow much without backlinks.

Good content + on-page can move you a bit, but links are what push rankings. Start with a solid internal structure, optimize pages properly, and then slowly build quality links—don’t rush it.

You can find millions of backlinks, so you should choose them wisely. Apply a ton of filters like niche relevance, low outbound links, contextual backlinks, traffic, overall site authority, etc. Pick backlinks for their quality and relevance.

Learning types of links or other things is easy af. For the starting phase you can get some niche edits or guest posts. I recommend you to hire an expert to teach you some basics about buying links

YouTube is the best free choice to learn all these : )

You can grow with good content and structure, but without links growth will be slow and capped

At minimum, build relevant, natural links while improving on-page and internal linking
