Of course, the quality of the infographic would be a big factor, but have any of you ever gone to the trouble to create one or paid someone to create one for you?

Was it worth it? Would you do it again?

    Thanks in advance!

In my opinion info graphics are indeed worth it to readers especially to those who doesn't want to read long content posts just like me. Sometimes I lack of enthusiast when reading long content but when the info graph gets my attention I can't hold back not to read it even though I'm not interested on that certain topic.

if its for the user then yes...

I actually go onto a lot of the selling threads here just because I want to see what their sales infographic looks like.

I'm the same way, and my gut tells me that having some infographics sprinkled through a site's posts would definitely help set a site apart from the crowd. With big G tracking user behavior and time on site, this could be gold.

I have been surprised at how affordable many of the sales letter creators are. These things are like works of art!

It just occurred to me that it would be awesome to come out with enough products to decorate my office with framed versions of the sales letters (like people do with album art).

From your experience with SEO would that have an impact on rankings, do you think (because of the user behavior once they land on your site)?

To me, the biggest value of an infographic, beyond user engagement, beyond direct traffic, beyond backlinks, is BRAND AWARENESS. Make the infographic, and be sure to note exactly where it came from. If that thing goes viral, your brand's name is going to be in front of a ton of eyeballs. If you're in it for the long haul, it may not convert for you immediately (though in some cases it will), but over time if someone comes across your site in the future, they might just remember you as the guys that made that neat graphic. Do a few of them, and your name will really stick.

This makes a lot of sense to me. I still remember a website called 97thfloor that did some infographics that I thought were really impressive. I haven't been to that site in almost two years but I can still recall the web address!

The major purpose of infographics is, representing everything in very simple manner and making users to read interestingly. Pictorial representation will always impress the users to read it more.. We can represent the complicated things as well as easy when showing an infographic..

Let me come to your question.. Info graphics from a good creator whoever it may be you or paid creator will impress the people for sure..

The main concern about iconographics is that search engines cannot actually read images, so they do not know precisely what the iconograpics is about. Nevertheless, iconographic definitely has a positive effect on SEO and, as per my experience, this is one of the most effective linkbait techniques.

First of all, iconographics captures attention and encourages saving and sharing, and therefore it brings you additional traffic and informs more people about your products or services. Furthermore, iconographics also helps to improve brand awareness and stimulate buzz around your brand. Besides that, iconographics makes people linking to your site, and it may facilitate links from social media platforms, blogs and other sources. Especially Pinterest is good in terms of submission.

But to go viral and pay off in terms of links and shares, iconographics should be really well done. Of course, there are many online tools, but it takes time and efforts to learn how to use them from the very basics, and a user's eye catches immediately what is done professionally and what is not. So, for a decent iconographics I would probably go for oDesk or Elance services.

Apart from all the things folks mentioned here, infographics are very sharable. If to speak about SEO, SMM and IM, this content type is probably the most viral along with videos.
