How much Will using .info really hurt you if .com, .net, .org arnt available? I know someone trying to sell me already made sites dirt cheap, but are all .info. One of the sites is actually ranking 12th in google, 3rd in bing, 3rd in yahoo and the guy claims he is selling because he didnt have time to mess with the SEO because he made to many sites. Does this sound like maybe this website wasnt productive thats why he is selling? 2,900 local searches, only $.31 CPC though. He has another one with 9,900 local searches, $1.19 CPC, but 31 in google, 72 in bing, 75 in yahoo. He wants $15 each, is it worth the gamble?

Some of my highest-ranking sites are .info sites. I really don't think the search engines will penalize you for that extension. I think the main reason to stay away from buying .info sites is if you are trying to brand your website (i.e. it's the name of your company), because it sounds a lot less professional than .com. But if you just want to put up a site to get search engine traffic, buy the .info.

i made the experience that i need way more backlinks to rank a .info site than a .com...

and that was not only once

since then i have completely stopped purchasing .info domains.

.info's are not good to go with big plans. Physiologically you won't spend more time with .info sites because of ranking doubt..lol its the fact.
But $15 is not a big money, good deal!. If i were you i will buy that for $15.

whats the on page seo of the first site like? It's already 12th in google, maybe some tweaks to the optimization might give it a little push. How good is the seo of the websites above you for that keyword? Do you think you'll be able to increase serps?
It's only $15, 50 clicks and you have your money back. I don't use adwords but it doesn't sound like a big gamble to me.

He's selling pre-made sites for $15.00 a pop? They already have backlinks? Are these sites making ANY money at all? If they are, at $15 bucks, I'd probably by them just to add to my portfolio, even if they are .infos.

I would like to build a new site, but honestly im not good at all with keywords yet...

It shouldn't hurt you. As long as you do the work to get it set up and promote it, you should be fine. May be a bit longer to get the results you want, but it can be done.
