Inflation ruined everything

In 2015 in Europe it was nice to make $2000-$4000/m to live like a king.
In 2024, you need to make $10 000 for middle class life.
Forget about living like a king

40m2 flat in Poland in city like Warsaw or Wroclaw cost $250 000. 40m2! It's not king life any more.
Rental, food, clothing, fuel - $4000/m in such cities.
It's not normal

Of course you can live nice in smaller city, for $2000/m and with flats for $125 000 but it's still small flat.

People here on BHW are very happy when they earn $20-$50/day - but here even $200/day starting to become problematic.
It's not "get rich" any more. Especialy earning money with free traffic and blackhat is harder and harder each month ;)
Is Stagflation my friend not inflation.

Btw the prices are so extremly expensive because they give now every moron debt.
Why you think the billionaires are selling and hording cash ?

we live in a giant monopoly board created by the powers that be
He who holds ideology holds the key, he who is poor is or loud is obscene, he that asks once and learns between holds the ideology that may or may not fit between.

Almost feel like I should be moving this to the cryptocurrency sub-forum as Bitcoin solves these problems :)

Depens if you live alone or you have a family. Alone you can still live like a king with €4K per month. You can always live in countries like thailand if you wantto safe some money.

Now a days inflation is a matter of thinking. It happens rapidly but income doesn't grow like inflation. In future it will be more anxious.

Europe got hit particularly hard by the Russia-Ukraine war. Most first-world countries are being hit hard by demographic transition, which reduces the labor supply. Global warming has fucked crop yields in many countries as well, leading to higher prices. Other local factors play a role as well (health care in the US, housing in countries with restrictive zoning laws ect.).

Good news is the the pandemic disruptions have mostly been worked through, so some of the pressures are easing. Prices won't go back to where they were though, but hopefully incomes will start to grow again soon in real per capita terms.

But the benefit of doing IM is that you have a greater degree of control over your income, and working remote, can work from anywhere. You ever thought of moving to SE Asia? Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia (Bali specifically).

I was reading a story elon musks dad's emeraldmine, and that it wasn't a mine yet Elon was depressed sad with Pretoria university.

He's dad gave him money and musk caught up with he's mother in Canada, eventually entering into America he's dad sent him 80.000 USD, some believe the emerald mine didn't exist and musk senior was cash strapped.

The tenacious story sounds interesting but 1989 was a different story, question is could musk repeat the same story today anyways.

I never understood why countries never imposed a birth by right or married by right and lastly did a university degree level in that country to be subject to home ownership(with a visa of course but that would be subject to abuse, and a new monopoly would start) because having rich people buy as foreigners in regions(while I'm not expert in this) would buy up creating a demand shortage issue especially if they don't live in it.

I don't know if I understood what you meant, but it seems to me that in some Asian countries, a foreigner cannot acquire property, even by marrying a national of the country. The property remains in the hands of the spouse.

In Europe, it would go against our fundamental rights to impose a "ground law" on the acquisition of property.

cheese went from 5eur/kilo to 15eur
Grilled cheese sandwich used to be cheap

Every place will get messed up given time. The average person has poor impulse control and can't think long term, multiple that by millions and things can easily get bad.

Yeah that's why it's called European union a joint collaboration only the Philippines and Vietnam have that rule.

Very hard for foreigners that's why the country has not developed fast.

It will get worse. You'll wish back to today, saying it wasn't as bad as it will be soon.
Yes. It is not known what will happen tomorrow. And we will no longer be worried about inflation and the cost of real estate.

I am not sure what your comment has to do with mine...

Relocate to Thailand and you will feel like being the king again with your $4K a month income.

What really baffles me is that real estate doubled and in some cases tripled in 2-3 years, my question is: who is actually buying at these prices? That is not normal growth for any market. For new real estate, developers don’t have the volumes they used to in selling or new projects so the only way to keep making profits is to artificially increase prices. My two cents is that this is a bubble, now its time to sell not to buy property.

Economy 101: you have inflation but there is also deflation and recessions which is the exact opposite. Thoughts? It will be interesting to see what happens after the elections, more than 40% of the world population will vote this year.

For the average people life is hard and it is getting harder, something has to break sooner or later. Question is what will break?

Stocks, indices, btc, real estate etc eveything is at ATH or close. What do you do with cash nowadays? Investing simply isn’t worth it now, in my opinion the last one who comes to the party will be left holding the bag.

Tough times for sure and the everyday cost of living is insane, I spend min $5k monthly in eastern EU. I see the inflation, I feel it like everyone else but I am lucky that I manage to overcome, sametime I see a lot of people struggling so makes me wonder, where are we headed? The discussion is much more complex but if the average Joe can’t make a living then I guess this society has failed.

Edit: lots of people mentioned moving to some cheaper countries in Asia and live like a king with western income or online source of revenue. What about the language barrier? What about familly, friends, kids? Not easy taking a kid from his usual environment and enroll in a new school in some foreign country. That is not a viable solution, I think most people would travel the world but few would actually move somewhere other than their home country which guess what, its their home. I don’t want to move…

I live in Europe and with 4000 per month I would live very well. I don't know what your expenses are but each person has their own style. Unless you live in a big city with 4000 euros a month, you can live very well in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, etc.
