I made the dumb decision to quit my job 8 months ago, and put everything I have into developing a game.
I heard rumors about some developers not making any money, but I figured it was the people making really bad games.
So I thought if I made a good game, it would make money.... Wrong!
I am almost completely out of money, and am going to put my last into trying to get installs.
I have a legit YouTube channel with almost 50,000 subscribers, but even if i post a video about my game, I only get like 10-20 downloads that day.

I've had my game out since Feb 6th, and almost all the reviews are 5 stars.
I've managed to make $4 with in app purchases, and about $3 with ad revenue.

I've gotten around 100 downloads on iOS and 56 downloads on google play.

My goal is to hit $100 a day, but the way it's looking, it's not going to happen soon unless I figure something out.
I just replaced admob ads with chartboost, and it looks like thats going to help.
Here is my game so you guys can check it out, and Ill keep you posted on my status.

It won't let me post links so search the google play or iOS store for "Major Drip"
Look for the icon with the Nose, and a green background.

You didn't make a dumb decision, but the smartest one as having your own online business can bring you to higher success and better life than an ordinary job can give you!

The start is tough, don't give up and work hard and soon it will start repaying!

Just stay calm & remember that starting a buisiness would take time & patience ......

So create some new games or apps & start releasing them ......

Thanks for the support guys!
Made me feel a lot better.
Do you guys have any suggestions on what I can do to get more installs without spending a ton of money advertising?

Maybe you're just better at coding than promoting, or not own the budget. Maybe just so rhe developer

GL OP, I hope you succed, I will follow along

Can't you make some money other ways through your 50,000 YouTube subscribers to get some $$$ in the bank?

Good luck though :)

I'm doing the same thing, my game is getting about 100 downloads a day. when i market it on social media i get 1000+ downloads a day thats from my own experience, i bought some twitter shoutouts to the app link, and that help a little 100+ additional downloads for a 2hrs shoutout. i did that by contacting the individual accounts that had over 1 mil followers. cost me around 100$. ive tried instagram shoutouts from shoutcart and that work a lot better i paid something like 200$, for the instagram shoutouts but i got over 1000+ downloads a shoutout.

making money on games is hard, but if you rank high in smaller countries it has proven to bring me more downloads per dollar than trying to rank in the large countries like the US. and they have been constant for me. which brings me more ad revenue not a substantial amount but more.

i would also work on ASO. keywords, better images, make your games title longer and ad keywords in the title. that helped me to go from 10-20 downloads a day to 40-60 downloads organically.

i would also localize. just use google translate but be very careful in your translations. i helped me reach audience in other countries and get me to about 100 downloads a day originally.

getting reviews helps too, you'll rank higher in the app store. I'm yet to find a reliable place to buy/get reviews.

im also working on marketing through Facebook, which I'm hoping to get downloads in. look around on BHW there are people here that can help with that, which are reasonably priced. and from what I've heard and discussed with other devs is that its a great resource for downloads.

just my two cents from my experience.

Good luck boss, hope this helps.
