India's Twitter Clone "Koo" App

Though it's 2 days old news, I got to know about this Twitter clone app "Koo" which is made for the Indian audience.

Many celebs & politicians are already joining this app (you know who they're if you're from India).

Is it going to be successful or it'll be just another app that will be forgotten after some time.

THE NATION WANTS TO KNOW :D

Think government might regulate or ban twitter like it did Tiktok. You know they are looking at regulating "fake news" and "data privacy" issues.

These home grown apps might do well if twitter is arm twisted
 
Concerns about getting users data leaked from Koo app has already been rising. And the worst part is that the CEO of Koo doesn't think that it's an issue atleast that is what he said to users private data getting leaked.

I did, but the way I look at this is different.
Its going to help the economy and money stays inside the country.

Lot of home grown alternatives will slowly replace big G, T, F, W etc. It's about time.

But from what I see everyday and the moves. We are taking the path China took.

Only time will tell if this was a good move
 
There's a possibility of its success. All TikTok alternatives are successfull actually : Josh, Chingari, MX Takatak and Moj etc.
One app has crossed 50m+ downloads and others crossed 10m+ downloads.

Microsoft and Google invested $100 millions in Josh app.

Just yesterday ISRO announced local Map app.

A new ecosystem of apps is being created. The success of other apps has increased my hopes in Koo app.
However it needs too many updates and it will face political resistance too.

The rumour is that one of these TikTok clone app is owned by a BHW member who used to sell a bot here.

I'm not against Indian Apps.. It will be great if we have our own homegrown apps that can compete twitter/facebook/instagram etc.
But that cannot be on expense of users privacy. You are banning apps concercing security issues and then you yourself are leaking all the data hackers ever wanted. Definitely I will support Indian apps if it's good and not just because it's an Indian app.

That Twitter thread is total BS. That guy simply posted scraped JSON data. It's data transaction method to store data on the client side browser instead of fetching it again and again from server. You can see it by simply right click and view page source. All data was public provided by the user. It didn't leak any personal data.

I can't comment about that app's vulnerability but I'm only commenting about that Twitter thread. Our "sensational" news media panicked and published the news without any fac-checking first, duh!
You can check many threads of professional cyber experts countering that claim. It's a wrong whistle.

ps : That supposed "French" hacker is nobody professional but an Indian who knows French and basic programming and how to use API. Anyone who is on Reddit's r/india knows the truth. It's all hogwash.

I know it's all a cycle. They will definitely improve over a period. But I say it's about time
