I am from India and today I tried to buy some crypto after a very long time. My whole day went to waste as I failed to buy any.

These are the options I tried.

WazirX : I went through the trouble of doing KYC, verifying bank account etc. Deposited test amount around $120 USD (in INR). Bought some LTC. Then it won't allow me to withdraw to any wallet. Says Gov. Of India doesn't allow it. What's the point in buying if you can't own the goods. All exchanges in India have blocked withdrawals as per govt. rules.

Cex.io : I had an old account there. So I installed the app and tried to buy some USDT for 100 USD. First payment option I tried was Google Pay. Google pay saved my card info. Then it says - "This card cannot be used for this purchase." Google pay simply wanted my card info. Ok. Then I tried to pay through my MasterCard. Got declined twice. After 5 minutes the bank says the money was spent. Now I am at 100 USD loss with no crypto.

Paxum : I installed the app and tried to buy some BTC. The sellers there want my ID for the small amounts they sell. What a waste. It's P2P btw.

Then I searched some more. Someone mentioned in Reddit that you can buy through the Exodus wallet app. Installed it and tried to buy some LTC. It uses moonpay. Went through KYC and selfie approval on moonpay. Then again my cards were declined (Axis Bank and HDFC).

I am at a loss here.

People in US are buying ETFs and other crypto. And we Indians are left with the Modi govt. blocking everything crypto. What a shit gov this is.

Only option left is to mine crypto myself. ****.

I don't have a technical idea on how you can acquire crypto, but as a non American you can still buy ETF because they are traded online as well.
 
Zebpay is what I have been using for years now.

I mostly use it to receive payments from clients.

Works great quick bank withdrawal & low fees.

You will need kyc though.

Bit difficult as banks are blocking most of these so deposit & withdrawal are a mess.
 
If you can't operate through exchanges, your best bet is to try:

- VPN method (might be hard if you dox your IP at any stage in the process)
- Palau ID method - Google this, you can use a Palau ID to KYC on a global exchange & try using that as long as you have some method of depositing funds without your card/payment method being locked
- OTC (over the counter) swaps with someone. The hard thing here is that you need to trust the other party, so I'd be quite careful with this. Some exchanges do faciliate OTC buying directly so you could contact them
- The last option is - if you have a little amount of crypto, airdrop hunting for a few months to build up your stack could be an option. You're dropped tokens for doing certain tasks/creating volume on products in crypto in exchange for points/rewards which equate to a direct airdrop. Consider trying this if all of the others fail.

Withdrawing from crypto to bank is allowed. I need to withdraw to my own wallet which is completely blocked.

In Zebpay, can you transfer crypto to your own wallet? I have read that it's blocked for all exchanges in India.

I think you confused P2P with OTC.
OTC is when you buy from a broker directly at a set price rather than in an exchange.
 
Bro India is not a only country having same problem, and limits are insane small, they want to f.... with crypto but they will end up f... themselfs.

Ah good catch, yes. You can technically OTC buy through brokers like an exchange if you're doing larger size, but the more common retail way of doing it is P2P facilitated by the exchange.

I have the option to both send and receive for all those coins listed there so I think you can send to any address supported by the platform.

This is cap I use wazir x and binance both still In India I receive like atleast minimum a 100 dollars in both every day. I live in India plus I have no proxy or VPN so I don't know what are you doing but it's some error at your end.

Same for binance it works in india I am a 100% sure.

Also don't write about an entire country if you don't know how to use simple apps. Just a humble request.

Login to your bank and enable online and international transactions and increase the limit on it.

You can still make an account on binance and you can work with wazirx easily.

Buying, selling, and p2p all of that. A reddit post isn't some government directive.

The ban is not direct only urls are blocked which binance in its own app has already bypassed also it works great. Wazirx has no restriction at all. I have received from Israel and China both no calls were done by me to transfer it and I use the same bank as you.

On top of that transferring money from binance is an issue so this is the way.
Just send it to your wallet in wazirx and then transfer.

Also, from my photos u can yourself see that it works very well.

Atlast I am saying this again only international crypto exchanges are banned that also for inr transfer nothing else. Try it and call wazirx support.

My post was not for specifically you but for other people who might think that now crypto doesn't work in india at all which is a complete lie.
 
As an active Crypto user, I can see millions of rs. transaction every day in Binance P2P.
And I know lots of people who actively buy and sell crypto.

I don't know why you face such an issue, or maybe like many Indians, you just want to criticize govt/Modiji. :D

He clearly said he cannot transfer his crypto from WazirX to any other wallet, which is true and has been like that for at least 3 years now. I know of only 1 exchange in India that lets you transfer crypto to a different wallet, and I last used that 2 years ago so no idea now.

Nowhere in his post OP said he needs help receiving crypto into his WazirX wallet, he needs help transferring the crypto he bought to a third-party wallet. 99% of Indian crypto exchanges don't allow third party withdrawal. You can buy, trade, and do everything as long as it's on the same exchange.

well that's false that's what i am saying. For all big crypto coins there is a withdrawal option.
BTC has btc network
eth has erc 20 network
usdt has erc 20 network
and similarly for others and this is for both deposit and withdraw so i don't get it what's the problem?

Also, i have sent money from wazirx too so it shouldn't be a problem i am from india using the same bank as him.

Are you saying that you can buy ETH of Wazirx and then transfer the ETH to your own ERC20 wallet that you hold keys for?
