I just got an Idea of way to easily creating a good video. I was planning to make youtube channel and upload my videos there, create a lot of these videos, schedule the post and see what happens.

But I’m torn between creating long OR shorts video.

Here’s my video specs :

- Length is mostly around 1,5 minute, but I could easily make it 1 minute to adjust with yt shorts length, it’s just a matter of decision.
- Almost unlimited source, I can’t imagine how many videos I could make using this method.
- Could possibly go viral since I can target any topic including celebrity.
- Original video, not from stock footage.

My consideration :
- For Long video, Signing up for YPP is much easier with 4k watch hours and 1K subs. Shorts is much harder with 90 millions view in 90 days (not to mention it’s not available yet, has to wait until next year)
- Long video is stable, while shorts depends on viral video and it could die anytime.
- But shorts is easier to be made, let’s say I need a couple more steps to create long videos.
- It’s easier to get Subs using Shorts.

I don’t really care about revenue for now, just want to upload bunch of videos and see what happens.

What do you guys think?

Why not a mix of both?
Long-form content performs much better in certain niches

I would post short videos at the beginning to gain subscribers and then once I reach 1000 subscribers I would change and start posting long videos.

I would recommend shorts unless you only plan to upload shorts for the rest of your channels life. Usually content creators who upload shorts doesn't have a big loyal fan base even if they have 100k subscribers. People to subscribe for your shorts don't bother to check your channel or turn on notifications, they will just find your shorts in the Shorts area so if you upload long videos, you will most likely get very few views. If you see any big Shorts creators who has uploaded a long video you will see a huge decrease in engagement than you would see in a short. Go with longer videos.

Short videos will have more demand in future. So if you are thinking about long term, go with short videos.

Post Shorts first then slowly move towards long content because YouTube actively promotes shorts and when you publish a Short, you create an opportunity for your content to be viewed; subsequently, that view may result in the viewer subscribing to your channel or in the viewer engaging with the content published on your primary channel.

YouTube shorts will a great way to get subscribers and views.

You can't say which one will do best if you dont test them.

Try both length.

Also, its depends on niche. On some niche longer video works better. On some shorter do well. Whats your niche?
